Show Big Game Board Sanctions auctions Hunts The Big Game Board of Utah met earlier this month in Salt Lake City to make decisions on the various Utah hunting seasons number of permits etc They decided to set the elk hunt in the Fishlake area for November 24 16 with bulls and 25 either sex The Board refused to set the Manti hunt for the same time They designated designated October 5 15 for the open bull hunt The board members also set the archery hunt August 23 to September 7 for 1969 and agreed to take 15 mature buffalo bulls from the Henry Mountain area on a season Sept 28 to Oct 25 A large representative of local lo local lo- lo cal sportsmen and interested individuals from Sanpete Wayne Sevi Sevier r Millard Millard Mil Mil- lard and Juab counties attended attend attend- ed the regional Board of Big Game Control meeting which was held in Salina Sahna on June In most instances the audience audience aud aud- agreed with the recommendations recommendations recommendations cf of the Inter-Agency Inter committee with the exception of the elk hunts and the bow and arrow season Norm Hancock big game manager for the Utah Fish and Game Dept explained the recommendations on each area and showed charts that gave gave the number of hunters last year in each area the number of animals animals animals ani ani- ani- ani mals harvested percentage deer days per acre usage on the areas and percentage of browse usage Deer hunting districts and the recommended seasons by bythe bythe bythe the Inter-Agency Inter Committee were No 38 Mt Pleasant No 39 Ephraim to Manti Canyon No 40 Manti Canyon Mile 12 all regular season Oct 19 to 29 either sex No 41 North Nebo regular season with extension two lar tar season extension to Nov 3 weekends So South th Nebo regu regu- No 43 Salina-Boobe Salina Hole No 44 Fishlake No 45 Muddy No 46 Thousand Lake No 48 Monroe No 49 Marysvale Marysvale- Circleville and No 52 Henry Mountain all regular season either sex It was p pointed painted out that for No 49 this was the first time no special permits had been requested since 1934 Units No 54 and 55 were recommended rec recommended day 11 with buck only I Sportsmen and stockmen appeared appeared appeared ap ap- ap- ap nearly unanimous in asking for an archery season for 1969 to start after October 1 I.
