J Davidson Ma Manti ii playing playing play- play r John ing Thompsons Thompson's s The Moth She will be followed by Mason Finlinson Oak City who will perform the powerful L Lesche- Lesche number Intermezzo in Octaves I Two piano-organ piano duets are ih- ih clu 1 l in the program The one will have Janice Morley at the piano and Maris Mans Blackham at atthe atthe atthe the organ in a performance of Victor Herberts Herbert's Ah Sweet Mystery of Life Both are from Moroni The second piano organ duet will be performed by two Manti I musicians with with Mrs J Jane a n e OJ Braithwaite pianist and Mrs Eunice Garbe organist playing Gimble's Foster-Gimble's Old Black Joe Other piano solos will include Mrs Beverly Stevens Jensen of Salt Lake City playing Concert Etude in D Flat by Liszt Lynn Dean Saint Toccata Op III Ill and Terry Lynn Peterson Capri Capriccio in F Mi Mi- nor Dor Both Mr Peterson and Mr Dean are now attending Brigham Young University Prof Jenson Jenson a native of Ephraim Ephraim Ephraim Eph- Eph raim after graduation from the Snow Academy studied piano in Salt Lake City for a year under t Prof Thomas Giles H He made his Tiis musical debut in the old Salt Lake Theater in the spring of 1912 playing Wever's Concert stuck with the Utah Symphony Symphony Symphony Sym Sym- phony Orchestra providing the accompaniment Following two years of piano i teaching at Snow Snow Academy Professor Professor Professor Pro Pro- fessor Jenson went to New York 1 City and for two years studied under Alberto Jonas a famous j Spanish musician After he was demobilized from c the armed forces following the close of World War I Prof Jenson Jenson Jenson Jen- Jen son returned to New York City and then spent three years on a concert tour as accompanist and soloist that involved appearances v LA L VAR JENSON throughout the country At the completion of the tour Professor Jenson settled permanently per per- in New York continued continued continued contin contin- his studies taught piano and played piano recitals In addition addition addition addi addi- tion to maintaining his studio in inN N New w York City he taught at Centenary Collegiate Institute in Hackettstown New Jersey The Irving School Tarrytown New NewYork NewYork NewYork York and The Castle School in Tarrytown New York Professor Jenson is now a member o of the Snow College music music music mu mu- sic faculty and also teaches During these years he returned return return- ed to Sanpete County each summer summer summer sum sum- mer to teach piano and made his permanent return in 1954 In 1967 the Utah Music Teachers Association conferred on him an Honorary Certificate of Accreditation Accreditation Accreditation tation Life Membership Contrib Contributions for a Snow College College College Col Col- lege music scholarship will be accepted at the door during the March 11 concert honoring Professor Professor Professor Pro Pro- fessor Jenson according to Richard Nibley concert chair- chair man |
