We Labor Greatest danger to our labor stand- pledge our support to reinstate the ards is unemployment. The ferocious payments to the full amount. enmity of the New Deal towards the men who fill the workers pay envelopes lias destroyed millions of jobs for American workers. Labor can never be safe or secure, until jobs are Hiking for men and not men for jobs. The abundant life for the American worker is a steady job at good wages and fuir conditions of work. Industry with high employment and high production is the only source from which these things can flow. 1 Old Age Pensions Pensions cannot be secure as long as the social security money is being spent for current expenditures as it now is. Harris stands on the Republican Platform which states, We deplore the fact that under the present administration, the amount of payments to our aged and needy lias been decreased below llie sum of W. P. A. Worker Dr. Harris realizes that adequate Federal relief is essential as long as widespread unemployment prevails. No group of Americans would think of letting the unemployed suffer or starve. Every W.P.A. worker knows, however, tluit the W.P.A. does not provide real security. It is only a bridge to span the unemployment period. If it is forced to span too far it will collapse. Dr. Harris will fight to restore confidence to industry and steady jobs to W.P.A. workers which will pay decent wages and not a W.P.A. pittance. This will bring real security to the unemployed. Farmer Every fanner knows that as long as we are importing huge shipments of Elect Franklin fann products, the American fanner is not secure. As long as one man, the President, can bargain away the American farmers market, the farmer is not secure. As long as hundreds of farms are being sold for taxes or taken by the Government in foreclosure, the farmer is not secure. Dr. Harris promises to fight for maintenance of the American market for the American fanner and the revival of industry so tliat the millions of workers will have money with which to provide food for themselves and market for the farmer. Business Man l)r. Harris is opposed to punitive taxes which destroy the ability of business to expand. He believes business slmuUl lie unshackled from paralyzing regulation and freed from injurious government competition. The government program should be stabilized so the business man will know Ikiw to plan and expand his business. This alone will give the business man real security. S.
