Show Sewer Rate Ordinance Amended By City Council The Ephraim City Council at its Monday May meeting voted to amend the ordinance concerning the rules rates and regulations of the sewer rate schedule of the City of Ephraim This ordinance was originally passed and adopted on August 6 1962 The council had studied the ordinance at its May meeting meeting meeting meet meet- ing but had decided to hold it over for the May meeting so that some additional work could be done on it After the ordinance was read a motion was made by Shirley Zabriskie that the amendment be accepted This was seconded by Afton Larsen with the voting unanimous Roland Adams was present and asked that the city have a surveyor come in so that they could complete the sale of his land to the city This will be bedone bedone bedone done in the near future it was pointed out James J ames Abbott and Charles Jones were in attendance regarding regarding regard regard- ing the trouble they had when the new power line was installed in Mr Jones' Jones home Glen Bailey and Merrill Daniels were also present and explained how the trouble had occurred Glenn L. L Bartholomew stated that the city was not liable for the trou trou- ble After some discussion it was decided to table the matter for the present Clarence Shupe of the Shupe Engineering Company Compan of Salt Lake City discussed the city's plans for a one-million one gallon g llon storage tank He presented estimates estimates estimates esti esti- mates of the cost for a tank of steel and a concrete tank He felt th that t Ephr Ephraim im City would probably qualify for Federal aid aidon aidon aidon on the project After some discussion discussion discussion dis dis- dis- dis it was decided to investigate this f further before any action action ac ac- ac- ac tion was was ta taken n nA A trio of mEn men appeared before before be be- fore the council and asked for foran foran foran an extension of the present l 1 lease e a s e agreement with the city for part of the City's garage west of town In attendance at atthe the meeting were Harry Mosher Jesse Lou Bradley and Larry Segal Segal Segal Se Se- gal who asked that the lease be extended through January 1 I 1969 at the same rental fee of per year to be paid terly The council approved the request A motion was passed that Mickey be hired to put in the replacement sections on the curb and gutter project Cox Brothers of Manti will furnish the concrete at no cost to the city The swimming pool problem was discussed The mayor made several recommendations to the council After some discussion it was decided to contact several Salt Lake companies who specialize specialize specialize in cleaning and making pool repairs and see what the cost would be to completely clean and put the pool in good shape Further action will be betaken betaken betaken taken after the companies submit submit submit sub sub- mit their bids for this work It was decided by the council to buy a new lawn mower for forthe forthe forthe the cemetery which will also be used to care for the front and back library lawns lawns' It was decided decided decided de de- de- de to hire Ray Green on the same basis as last year to take care of the lawns there A mo motion ion by Reed Nielson to allow the Little League for forthe the their r work this year was passed unanimously Mayor George Allred suggested suggest suggest- ed that Shirley Zabriskie who has had experience with water problems and projects for most of his life should be pe placed in charge of the City Water and Sewer Department with Clifford Hall Hall- working under him This would change Valden Francks to tobe tobe tobe be in charge of the Street and Road Dep Department The other departments departments departments de de- would remain as as' as asat at present This switch was approved approved approved ap ap- ap- ap proved by the c council uncil The mayor presented the invoices invoices invoices in in- voices from Pingree Company on the lease or purchase of a ladder truck for the power dept The council decided that the city should purchase the truck since there was a need for it The bill from Manti City for forthe forthe forthe the TV translator station expenses ses was discussed The cost of the station is per month 50 of which is p paid id for by Ephraim Ephraim Ephraim Eph Eph- raim and the other 50 by Man Man- ti The council passed a motion to pay this bill |
