Adkins In his bid for County Attorney, Robert W. Adkins says that the County Attorney's door should always be open. His desire to run for the office stems from his basic interest in Summit County and its residents. The lawyer was born in Coalville and has resided in the city most of his life. As a graduate of North Summit High School, Mr. Adkins went to Weber State College for undergraduate work and then to the University of Utah College of Law. He graduated from law school in 1972. Mr. Adkinrf professional experience includes one year with former Third District Court Judge D. Frank Wilkins as a Research Clerk, and Deputy Salt Lake County Attorney in 1972. Presently, Mr. Adkins is associated with the Roe and Fowler law firm in Salt Lake and Park City. Mr. Adkins.who says he is not a politician and doesnt plan to run for another office if he is elected County Attorney, decided to run for the on a office friends suggestion. He acknowledges that a conflict of interest might exist between his law practice and the County Attorney's responsibilities if he is elected. In such an instance, the responsibilities of County Attorney would come first. As the chief law enforcement officer in the county, the County Attorney is responsible for prosecuting criminal violations, misdemeanors, and felonies. He also advises the County Commissioners and all elected and appointed employees. 'In addition, the County Attorney represents the county in civil litigations and handles the Juvenile Court as well as the state's support laws. Major problems Mr. Adkins sees facing the County Attorney's Office are failures to prosecute criminal cases and the continued growth of the community. He also feels that there is a backlog in some of the Justice of the Peace Courts. Mr. Adkins is a firm supporter of the Unified Court System and - believes unequivocably in the equal application of the law.
