Show Wednesday, July 24, Page 10 1974 dPARK CfTY GUY U.S. SKI TEAM MOVES INTO NEW HEADQUAR- TERS Officials of the United States Ski Team and National Training Center have begun operating out of their still unfinished headquarters located in the old Mount Air Market building. Mr. Earl Hansen, the organizations business manager, said construction will continue over an extended period of time as funds become available. Relocated from Denver, Colorado, the offices will eventually house a staff of approximately 25 persons. Mr. Hansen commented, This is the first time weve had a real home. He stated Park City was chosen as the national headquarters because of the towns appeal and very accommodating Greater Park City Company. GOLF TOURNAMENT SCHEDULED The 1st Annual Park City Mixed Best Ball Golf Tournament is scheduled for August 10th and 11th at the Park City Resort Golf Course. Starting time for the 36 hole event is 12 noon on Saturday, August 10th, and 9 AM on Sunday. Since the tournament is limited to only fifty teams, interested golfers are urged to enter early. Entry fee for the tournament is $40 per team. To enter and get starextension ting times, call the golf pro shop at 3931 or 3932. 521-213- 1, Current Utah Golf Association handicaps are required. WELCOME! The Christensen Diamond contingent will be hosted by the Resort on July 27th. From the 27th to the 29th, the American Management Association will be lodged. and fed by the Resort. The Silver King Lodge will make its facilities available for Field Trials from July 27th to August 3rd. On July 28th, the Park City institute will present Robert Peterson at the Resort. From July 28th to July ,30th, the O.C. Tanner Company will be housed by the Resort. The National Training and Development Services will arrive in Park City on July 28th and will make use of Resort accommodations and facilities for four weeks.. The Ogden Exchange Club will spend a day on the golf course on July 30th . POLICE DISPERSE GATHERING On Saturday night, July 20th, Wasatch County police officers, acting at the request of Park City Ventures, .sent home a crowd of would-b- e concert goers from the Bonanza Flats area. At approximately 1 AM, the police halted what was reported to be a benefit concert. Police officials stated the action was taken after Park City Ventures reported the gathering had assembled on company land without requesting permission. Appeals to the mining company from organizers of the fund raising event were to no avail. Police said there were no arrests and they encountered no trouble. They stated their request to vacate the area was met with police compliance. CANDIDATES MET Summit County Republicans gathered at the home of Diane and Bill Wallin on Saturday night, July 20th, for a Meet Your Candidate Pot Luck Dinner. More than sixty people were present to converse with many of the state and county candidates who will be carrying the Republican banner into the upcoming elections. Among the politicans on hand was Mayor of Salt Lake City, Mr. Jake Gam. The recently reorganized Park City Republican Women will meet Thursday, August 1st, at 7:30 PM in the Memorial Building. All interested persons are en- couraged to attend. SKI HEADQUARTERS POST OFFICE EXPANSION If all goes as planned, more than $300,000 will be spent on expansion of the Park City Post Office. Additions to the existing building will consume the grassy area which now sits between the Post Office and the Purple Mushroom shop. When completed, the new building will contain 1,400 lock boxes and have space for another 600 lock boxes. Preliminary plans for the proposed expansion were viewed by the Planning Commission on July 17th. On August 7th, the District Industrial Engineer will make the official presentation to the commission. NEW CITATIONS TO PLAY AFTER CONCERT Immediately following the Joni Mitchell concert on Friday, the 26th. of July, The New Citations will play in the Hardrock Room at the Resort Center. The popular Salt Lake group will play until 1 AM, and there will be a $1 cover charge per person. |
