At age 17, she has a long list of honors and accomplishments. Her latest achievement is winning first place in the District 9 American Legion Oratorical Contest in Vernal. Her talk was entitled 'The Constitution in our Everyday Lives. She qualified for the district meet when she won the local contest at Union high school last month. Added to her credits In speaking Is the Sweepstakes Award for Impromptu speaking at the Utah Alpine Forensic Meet. Thee were students from 29 schools at the meet. Glenna also qualified to enter the state contest at BYU by winning the Region 6 Forensic Meet in Impromptu speaking. Her awards are not only won at speech meets but at other contests as well. An 1 she was selected to reign over the Uintah Basin Industrial Convention in Roosevelt as the Indian Princess. That same year she entered the Miss Indian Utah pageant and captured the title. The Ute Tribe sponsored her In the Miss National Congress of American In In 1970 Glenns Jenks Outstanding Student dians contest at the organizations convention in Anchorage, Alaska, where she was selected as second runner-u- p. In 1971 she was named the second attendant to the Homecoming Queen at Union high school. Glenna plans to attend Brigham Young University with a major In elementary She said being Sunday School education. teacher In her church has given her experience In teaching children. Her school activities are just as numerous. She Is an honor student and attended Girls State last year. Among her extracurricular activities are Art Editor for the school yearbook; president of the Friendship Club; school paper staff; harlequin player in Drama Club, (which she says she enjoys because it gives an opportunity for free expression); and youth representatives on the Uintah Basin Education Council, an eight member committee appointed by the Tribal Business Committee.
