Show the ENTERPRISE Speed limit has railroad steamed ' i in Ynitiih -- V ' ' '9 " k Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad Co. is negotiating with city officials in American Fork over what could be a financially detrimental speed ruling. The city recently dropped rail speed limits within city boundaries to 25 m.p.h., and and Rio Grande Denver spokesman Larry Parsons said the ruling could cost the rail company significant dollars and lost time. We generally have passed through the city at 70 Parsons explained. mph, And in 18 years, we havent had an accident there. The 25 mph ruling would make us lose about six minutes per train run, and we have 24 trains passing through American Fork daily. Also cosily would be the added fuel spent in increasing the trains speed after leaving American Fork, he said. The rails cross three streets within the city. City officials stated the new limit was a safety precaution, but that they were aware of Denver and Rio Grandes problems and were possibly willing to compromise the speed limit. Parsons could put no estimate on dollars lost to the reduced limit. - i1 P vV''- 'aJ 'jf ''- - ' ' ' x i'r a s. up, up... Pour it then up...
