Contracts to provide a variety of engineering services to domestic utilities have been announced by Nuclear Services Corporation (OTC 3.50, 3.875). The companies and services to be provided include: An award by the General Electric Company for the design of an experimental test facility for Loss of Coolant Accident (LOCA) analysis. The facility is a (14) scale section of G.E.s Mark 1 design for containment of Boiling Water Reactors (BWR). The Mark I design for one-quart- er containment is used in 19 BWRs currently Results of the operating in the U.S. experiments will be applied to refine e behavior in predictions made for operating plants. Nuclear Services has also received a contract to design the control Rod Drive Hydraulic System for the two BWR units at Susquehanna Steam Electric Station, Pennsylvania Power and Light Company. The contract for design was awarded to NSC by Nuclear Installation Services Company (NISCO), East Syracuse, New York. NISCO has the system engineering, fabrication and installation responsibility. Nuclear Services has Additionally, signed an agreement to provide consulting serv ices to Washington Public Power Supply System (WPPSS). a municipal corporation and joint operating agency of the State of Washington. The contract calls for Nuclear Services to develop a plan for and prepare project management procedures for WPPSS. The work is to be undertaken in two phases. Phase 1 will cover a program of familiarization and the preparation of a definitive work plan. Phase 2 will encompass the preparation of procedures in draft and final form following a review by WPPSS. The resulting Project Management Procedures Manual will reflect updated organization and management methods including administering of contracts and controlling cost and schedules. The project is scheduled to be completed and the procedures in effect in December 1976.
