NEWS FROM WOMEN'S COUNCIL Chamber of Commerce 10: Doris MEMBERS OF THE WOMEN'S COUNCIL 1 it IT I Soprano Yoshi Ito, Westminster College's Affiliate Artist this year, is completing her second visit to the campus and community. She has presented six perforand recital a mances, including concert with the college's madrigal singers, and other "infor-mance(informational performances) and "noncerts" off-camp- us s" (non-concert- DORIS TAGGART s). Under the Affiliate Artist program, the guest artist visits Things are jumping all aver town and the Women's Council of the Salt Lake Area Chamber of Commerce are doing their share. Every one is busy with their plans for Christmas but in our spare moments we are working on our membership drive and all of our committeees are working on projects that will be announced after the first of the year. Sincerely, members of the Council, want to take this opportunity to wish the citizens of our beautiful state a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year. But besides all this, we wish you a New Year of good health, worthwhile achievements, physical and spiritual growth and all the " good things life ahs to offer. . Miss Ito, who has filled previ artist-in-residenc- ge Doris Taggart ous appointments in Hawaii and San Diego, follows lyric baritone Mark Howard who was Westminster's Affiliate Artist the past two years. A native of Tokyo, Miss Ito began to study music at age three and began her voice training at age 18 in the United States. She has received the "Joy in Singing" Town Hall Recital Award and a grant from the Martha Baird Rockefeller Fund for Music. She has appeared in conert across the Sears-Roebu- ck country with the Abbey Singers, five concert and opera soloists performing vocal chamber music. Mis Ito will return to the college in February, April and May.
