Show "SPECIAL" CHILDREN A meeting was held quite far from earth "It's time again for another birth-Sa- id the angels to the Lord above "This special child will need much love." His progress may seem very slow Accomplishments he may not show And hell require exrra care From the folks he meets way down there. He may not run or laugh or play His thoughts may seem quite far away In many ways he won't adapt And hell be known as handicapped. "So let's be careful where he's ent to be content We want his life Please, Lord, find the people who Will do a special job for you" They will not realize right away The leading role they're asked to play But with this child sent from above Comes stronger faith and richer love. "And soon they'll know the privilege given In caring for this gift from Heaven Their precious charge so meek and mild Is Heaven's very SPECIAL child." "NO-SH- OW DINNER BENEFIT We, the friends of Children's Behavior Therapy Unit, feel that everyone of our students are indeed "special" children an it's in their behalf that we write to you. During the past year it's been necessary for our organization to provide the salaries for six additional staff members who are absolutely vital to the Center. In fact after very careful consideration, we've found they . are indispensable to our program Our financial adviory committee has informed us that after the payroll in December our funds will be completely gone. Therefore, we've come up ' with the idea of a "nohow" dinner that we hope will bring in the funds we so desparately need. For the benefit of those who've never heard of such an event let me explain that it is a method of raising funds for a worthy cause quickly and with a minimum of expense. In es" dinner is a sence, a one that thing and says gimmick and that means another brings in funds that are badly needed from interested benefactors who are actually willing to give of their financial support (which is 100 tax deductable) yet are too busy or too actively involved in other civic activities themselves to take the time to attend even one function. g more Open House will be held Monday, December 18, 1972 from 7 to 9:00 p.m. at the Meals on Wheels Dining Room at 1S6 Westminster Avenue. This Open House is being held to honor the many volunteers who have donated hundreds of hours during the year. The Friendly Visitors have worked during the home-boun- d year to help the lonely Senior Citizens, and nany other dedicated volunteers have given their time and talents tp to aid other activities. During the Open House, the Kitchen Aires (Senior Citizen rhythm band) directed by Amos Branson, will play. Friendly Neighborhood group 1 will be having a Christmas party on Thurday, December 14, and already the reservation list is completely filled. The members of the Friendly Neighborhood Group 11 will have their Christmas party on December 15, and exchange Christmas gifts. This year the members of Friendly Neighborhood Groups are going to make Christmas brighter for some of the elderly in the community, who have no children or anyone to brighten their Christmas time. The Seniors held a bazaar to make money for this event, and now the committee is evaluating the applications that have been submitted. They made personal contact and will see that the elderly people have a joyous Christmas. The Utah Girl Scouts are going to make favors for every Meals on Wheels recipient when they get their Christmas Day meal (also the members of Friendly Neighborhood Groups will receive favors from the Girl Socuts). The Preceptor Gamma Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi will be furnishing fresh fruit and the members of Job's Daughters No. 13 will be making inger- bread cookies for the Meals on In the spirit of an Christmas we extend best wishes to all. We hope you and your loved ones share in the many e joys and blessings of the seaso old-fashion- ed old-tim- SALT LAKE CITV Wheels recipients.
