He pointed out that the Federal debt will be about $370 billion at the end of the year. This is an increase of $115 billion in just years. He pointed out that it is not particularly a problem that the budget of the Federal government is $250 billion but that it spends more than what is received. There should be no doubt in anybodys mind why inflation is increasing at an alarming rate. 10 What has caused the increase in die budget since 1963. Looking at the budget figures as they have changed from then until now Foreign Aid is down 10 percent, Military is up is up 50 percent, 33 percent, Agriculture Commerce and Transportation up 100 Receiving recognition for outstanding service to agriculture is Andrea Huggins, Hooper. Included in the convention highlights were the awards given for service outstanding to agriculture. Heading the list of course would be the Distinguished Service awards presented to Andrea Huggins and D. Owen Roberts. Clark Brinton, Summit county received the award for greatest increase in membership. Allan Frandsen, Centerfield received the FFA Outstanding Farmer of the year award. Allan J. Frandsen, Centerfield receives Outstanding Farmer award from FFA chapter at Farm Bureau convention. Awards were presented to Elda Erickson, Lois Jensen, Bemiel Kumer, Ray Humphrey, Dale Anderson and Floyd Israelson for their outstanding service to the program in their area. 4-- H The surprise of being selected for the Distinguished Service Award was almost too much for D. Owen Roberts, Hennefer. President Hamilton presents the award. i Tim and Carolyn Christensen won the talent find contest and a trip to Los Angeles to the AFBF convention. Stan and Dixie Jackson won the Outstanding Young Farmer and Rancher award including a pickup from Rick Warner Ford. Gerold Wilcox, Ernest White and A. Ray Reese won cash awards of $75, $50 and $25 respectively for selling the most new Farm Bureau members during the year. We congratualte them. Many other fine and informative things happened at the convention that space will not allow special discussion. Particularly inspiring were the remarks of Elder Robert L. Simpson, Assistant to the Farm Bureau recognizes the outstanding service rendered by Farm Bureau Insurance Co. agents for membership aquisftion. The instance agent force has a significant Influence each year in helping achieve membership quotas In counties and state Farm Bureaus. President Hamilton presents agents Gerald Wilcox, 1st place, 2nd place, and Frank Nishiguchl, standing in for A. Ray Reese, 3rd place, cash awards for their membership work. Ernest-White- Council of Twelve Apostle, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints. Frank Pierce in his enthusiastic way led the singing, MCd the talent show and delivered a brief but pointed address mi getting the job done in Farm Bureau. Members who attended are better informed and have appreciation , of the organization they are members and those who couldnt come are. the losers. It was a stimulating convention. Gaynor, Deron, Raland, and Arlan Brunson, Kaysville returned to entertain the Utah Farm Bureau convention. On January 14, 1914, Henry Ford began his assembly line production.
