Show ,11 NEWTON NEWS Obituaries Guests come for Thanksgiving By LEDA SUTHERLAND NEWTON Thanksgiving dinner was enjoyed at the home of Leon and Glenna Petersen by her folks, Sid and Edries Hansen of Newton and Geroge Benson at Newton enjoyed Thanksgiving day and dinner at the home of Gene and Christi Michelle, Tina and Curtiss Wife of Pocatello,' Idaho, children. Thanksgiving day was a special day for the Palmer and Bertha Johnson family of brothers and sisters and Calvin Cheney of Brigham Gty, Ray, Norma, and Gay-lenRandy, Lori, Ricky, and Ryan Johnson of Sandy, DflrreU. Anna Laura, Lorin and Tammy, Tayne, Lynne, Laurie, LeAnn, Lisa LaRae Johnson of Murray, Chris, Betty, Mark, Mike, Robby, Ladd and Cameron Quayle, all of Ogden, Ralph Yeates, Butch (Lynn), Linda Yeates and three children of Brigham Citv. Needham in Logan; also dinner guest was Doris Needham, Genes mother and the seven Needham Logan, and the Petersen family, Leon, Glenna, Tacy, Lynne, Shelley, Curt and Karla. Thanksgiving dinner guests and weekend visitors at the home of Richard and Helen Cooley were her folks from Fruitland, Idaho, James and Florence Seeley and a brother Walter. Also other Thanksgiving guests were Harold and Janet Seeley and daughter Doreen and, son Michael of Newton and enjoying these family members were Richard, Helen, Pamela, Jeremy, and Justin. Guests at' the home of Eunice Cooley on Thanksgiving day were her daughter Helen Hellstern and her husband Ron and five sms of Arimo, Idaho, and her folks Kemal and Edna Toolson of their children and their children. This turkey dinner was held in Murray at the 11th Ward church house where Darrell Johnson, one of the 12 brothers and sisters is ward member. This day of eight brothers and sisters out of 12 and their families being together was enjoyed by 67 family members. A lovely turkey dinner with all the trimmings, and many other goodies was served on long decorated tables. This was followed by the group enjoying basketball, games, group singing, and visiting and the brothers and sisters and their, mates planned the family Christmas party to be held at Norma and Wendell Thompson's home in Logan, Dec. 10. Those who enjoyed this special afternoon were Dell and Esther Saltern, Roy Saltern and five boys of Logan, Tim and Patsy Pragg and six children of Murray, Norma, Conley and Shanna Thompson of Logan, Earl and Geo Knighton and five children of Murray, Leda and Debra Sutherland of Newton, Marv, Susan, Smlthfield. Mildred Sutherland is visiting at the home of her daughter Lucille Miles and her husband Ned in Salt Lake City where she also enjoyed the Thanksgiving holiday with other members of Lucille and Neds family, who are Lee and Paula Wagstaff and children, Skye and Sloan, Alan and Heidi Miles and daughter, and Scott Miles all of Salt Lake held for Monte Luncherini at the North Logan Third Ward. He will be leaving Dec. 1 for the LTM in Provo prior to his mission to Argentina. Surviving is one cousin, Kowallis, ren, and She was born March 13, in Smithfield, a daughter of Samuel P. and Loretta Miles Nilson. Her progenitors were early pioneers of Cache Valley. 1888 Funeral services were he married Carrie 1951, She married Leonard Christensen of Richmond in Ogden June 2, 1920. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple. Her husband preceded her in death by 20 years. She was an active member of the church, accepting responsibilities over the years as her health would permit. As a young woman she taught the junior girls in MIA. Later she was a Primary teacher. In more mature years she was closely affiliated with the Relief Society, and was a visiting teacher for many years. Later she accepted an assignment as a teacher in the ward Relief Society, he was a student of the gospel. RicEs Kowallis in the Logan LDS Temple. An active member of the LDS Church, he served a e mission in Norway 1914 to 1916, and a stake mission in the Hyrum Stake. He and his wife served a four year mission in the Alaska-CanadiMission. While on this mission he served as branch president of the Kimfull-tim- an berly, British Columbia, Ketchikan, Alaska, branch, and bishop of the Langley, British Columbia Ward from 1961 to 1965. He returned to Logan to make his home and worked as a temple officiator for 14 years in the Logan LDS Temple. She was born Feb. 28, 1916 in Smithfield, a daughter of Burkley H. and Alice Merrill Morse. She married Andrew LaMar King Feb. 26, 1934 in Brigham Gty. The marriage was later solemnized int he Logan LDS Temple. She had lived in North Logan before moving to Preston. Surviving are her husband of Preston; one son, Richard LaMar, Sherman Oaks, Calif.; two sisters, Julia Nilson, Logan and Bessie Benson, Newton; her stepmother, Doretta Morse, Logan; a halfbrother, Robert Morse, Logan; halfsisters, Bonnie Kelstrom, Roy, and Betty CarlsMi, Logan. Valley, Arco, Idaho; 60 grandchild- NORMAN SALVESEN Erickson, Preston; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Funeral services were Monday at the Richmond stake house. Frank Wall Talbot, 74, Lewiston, died Monday at his home after a long illness. He was born Sept. 28, 1903, in Lewiston, to Robert Wall and Martha Lucinda Sharp Talbot. He married Bertha Engelke July 1 1944, inSalt Lake Gty. Talbot was a farmer, and a member of the LDS Church.
