Closer to home they stopp'd at Rear Iake. Mrs. Jo Davis flew out from Chicago. 111., to make the acquaintance of a new grandson. Ryan Benjamin, son of Julia and Timothy Opal and to help her daughter. She plans on staying alxiut 2 weeks. A mother-daughte- r social was held in the 6th Ward Relief Society for Homemaking Day. Quilts were tied and one was to be sold, one was presented to a daughter Ronnie Penson Winward and the third to mother. Darlene Smith. descendants Doll quilts were made and presented to Lesa Rowcutt and Lisa Pitcher. On July 27 the 7th Ward Primary met in the cultural hall for their pioneer day celebration. Activities were carried out as singing, storytelling. games, etc., with the children being rotated in groups. Jam and homemade bread was served followed by the block parade of pioneer in wagons and a few of the girls wore sunbonnets. Sharon and Ken Munk. AILEEN PREECE Godfrey Aileen Preece, our cook of the week, is pictured with one of her favorite recipes, Texas Cake. She is married to Orlando Preece. They live on the Smithfield stake farm in Amalga. Their youngest child, Gay Lynne, is a senior at Sky View High School and lives at home. They have six married children, Mrs. Larry (Koanna) Falslev, Benson; Mrs. Allan (Karen) Housley, Plain City; Sherwood, Vallejo, Calif.; Mrs. Quinn (Lynnette) Hale, Hyrum; Michael, Wellsville; Lindsey, Hyrum. They also have 14 grandchildren. Aileen has worked for the school hot lunch program at Logan High School for the past five years. This fall she will be at the Summit School in Smithfield. Aileen loves her work as coordinator of the Junior Sunday School. A position she has held for 9'a years. She enjoys reading and handwork, especially making double crosstitch table cloths for family and friends. Shirley Bartschi: Counsel- LEWISTON LEARNINGS Couple Visit In Weiser By I.AHEK BODILY Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Elwood drove to Weiser, Idaho, where they attended funeral services for an uncle, Arlo Kent, on Monday. Enroute they stopped overnight in Burley, Idaho, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Kent. Alan and Bonnie Layne arrived early Tuesday morning at the home of his mother, Louise Layne, for their summer vacation. They brought their five children with them. The girls are Lisa, Suzanne, Kimberly. Victoria and Coreen. Alan is a high school football coach at Downey, Calif. The family will share their vacation time with Bonnie's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Delmar Waite, in Hyde Park. With the birth of a grandson on July 29, Farn and Mary Perkins now have an even dozen grandchildren. A son, their fourth, was born Friday to Diane and Charles Spackman of Trenton. The past two weeks have been full of activity for Virgil and Alice Marler. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Turvey and their five children came from St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada, and visited with the Maj-ler'for a week. Later the Orland Hartford family, also of St. Thomas, arrived to spend several days at the Marler home. The local couple became acquainted with the Canadians while they served as LDS missionaries there. The children and grandchildren of Newell and Irene King have been visiting their parents during July. Sonja and Ron Freeman and their s children, Richard, Heidi, Steven and Stacey are from Fresno, Calif. Judy and Scott Larsen and Erica, Brandon, Brian and Andrea are presently residing in Provo while Scott is completing graduate studies at BYU. They all spent the latter part of the month here. Earlier Lana and Brad Carlson and their family, Heather and Cameron were here from Phoenix, Ariz. Only a few days after arriving there Mrs. Buttars and her daughters were called home because of the death of Ormas Buttars. Mrs. Litz remained in the Capital Gty to complete the planned visit. She reports that she enjoyed very much seeing the museums, the Washington LDS Temple, the Art Galleries and other points of rs -- 10-d- interest. Kimber Hall, recently returned from the Montana Billings LDS mission, gave a report of his missionary experiences in the Lewiston 2nd Ward Sunday evening.
