When the filming is complete the microfilm is stored in carefully constructed vaults beneath 700 feet of solid granite in the Wasatch mountains just a few minutes away from Salt Lake City. HEAD LIBRARIAN for the Bear Lake library is Mrs. Bernice Pendrey, a Montpelier school teacher and long time researcher. A staff is developed from the area involving the Montpelier, Paris and Soda Springs stakes in Idaho. Ila Larsen is executive assistant from Montpelier, Dorothy Griffiths from the Paris stake and tala Walker from Soda Springs. The branch is open 41 hours each week every day except Tuesday and Saturday. Films and other materials are obtained as needed from the main library in Salt Lake City. A user pays a rental of 70 cents a film for two weeks usage and may extend the film for an additional two weeks for 25 cents if needed. There are five film readers available and one microfilm machine is now operating and another is due to arrive soon. THE CACHE Branch library is about four times the size of the Bear Lake library and has a staff of 135 genealogical missionaries to assist those seeking information. The library also has a large number of bodes for use in genealogical research and a large number of permanent films. Included in the permanent films are all of the area ward records, a large number of census records, all of the third and fourth generation sheets that have been processed up to 1972.
