Maybe not... but most all of us have increased our use of electricity substantially .contributing to the need for new power plants. The average residential customer in Utah in the past ten years! How about you? increased his electricity use 51 Utah Power has only enough generating capacity for present customers at their present levels of use. Whether we like it or not, the area's population is growing at a rate almost three times as fast as the nation. So theres really no mystery: In addition to covering added operating costs due to inflation, Utah Power is asking rate increases to help build electric generating plants those already under construction and those that must be started now completing a new plant about every two years. These plants must be built at high construction costs gpd: equipped with costly pollution controls. The increase will enable Utdh' Power to borrow the money at economically feasible rates that will make it possible to build them. It takes five years to build a new plant... that's why at Utah Power, it's already tomorrow! You fit in . .
