Harper Post No. 58 American Legon and auxiliary held a membership dinner at the Legion Hall recently. Dues for 1976-7- 7 were collected and a delicious roast beef dinner was served to a good crowd. Speaker was Serge Benson of Logan. He spoke on the constitution and ideals. Boys State and his own experiences in Washington, D.C. New officers of the legion mander Burl Summers; First Vice Lyle Izatt; Second Vice, Dan Gyllenskvg and Adjustant Junior Plowman. Auxiliary officers are: President Pat Gyllenskvg;' First Vice, Elizabeth Thain; Second Vice, Ruth Summers and Secretary, Laurel Cub Scouts List SHERRIE GITTENS AND RICK JENSEN KATHY WILLIAMS AND CRAIG ALLEN and auxiliary greeted the group and were open to suggestions for activities to make this a successful year. Legion officers are:- Com- Mr. and Mrs. James D. Gittins, announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter Fathers, Sons Take Outing by Thaya Davis Hyde Park went to Tony Grove where they had supper and a program. Each ward performed in a skit held around the Adams. A decorated birthday cake was brought by Erma. Arley Coleman hosted. Erma cut and served the cake after a steak dinner. Margaret and Jim Coleman have moved into the home at 185 Summit Drive. They came from Brunswick, Ohio. - They wanted to come home to Cache Valley. She was originally from Brigham City and he from Hurricane. They have children, Julie Ann in the 4th grade and Bobby in the 2nd grande, also J. Dean 3 and into everything. Her parents are Norma and Eugene Bott. Margaret and Jim are both graduates of USU and this is where they met. She majored in Elementary Education and taught 2 years in Mass, and one in Brigham City. They were both active in student affairs. She won the Robins Award. n Lu Jean and Randall flew to Kansas City, Kansas to visit their son and wife, Doris and Captain Jim Nilson (Air Force) and daughter Kristen. They did sightseeing in Independence, Missouri, saw the visitors center and other places of interest. They were gone 4 day's. Cathy and Mickey Stokes and children, Lisa, 8. Gifford, 6, Heidi, 2, and Cody, 10 months, have moved from Smithfield, 154 E. 2nd So. to Richmond, 68 So. 1st East into their new home. It is a 6 bedroom home, old fashioned brick (orange with a swirl through it). Her parents are Lonnie Nil-so- - and Vernetta Loveday, Smithfield and his are Shirley and Russel Stokes, Antroch, Calif. Mickey is a plumber. Homemaking Day was held in the 6th Ward Relief Society with President Helen Chambers conducting, i The Family Health Lesson was given by Louise Young. Jay Bills of Benson gave a food drying demonstration. Activities included survival candles and ceramics. Lunch was served to 59 by Ann Humphries, chairman and Annette Saxton, Marjorie Ilullingcr, Sandra Bick-morSharon Hall, Donna e, Patterson, Ethel Bowcutt and Margo Michaelin. Ellen and Terry Johnson and family Shalisa and Jennifer took their camper recently, and went to Yellowstone with Kathy and Mick Stokes, Richmond and their 4 children, Lisa Glff, Heidi and Cody. Scott Jeppeson, son of Woody and Fern Jeppeson, Hyde Park, has been teaching at North Cache Jr. High Thursday evening Velva and Lew Allsop honored their son and his wife, Louise and Sid Allsop. He is President of the Santa Rose Stake in Calif, who had come to attend conference with a family party at the Allsop home. Louise is a daughter of Wovel and Bishop Justin Erickson, Preston. Guests were, Wavel and Justin Erickson, Preston; Carla and Vail Allsop, LuDean ami Jim Pond, Smithfield; Cleone and Richard Allsop, Trenton; Blanch and Keith Godfrey, Smithfield; Sherri and Brian Anderson, Smithfield; n; Mrs. Effie Geene, Smith-fielElaine Anderson, d; North Logan and the honored guests Sid and Louise Allsop. Time was spent renewing old acquaintances. Mr. Eugene Olsen is now living at Sojourner Park. He is a carpenter for Greaves and Downs Homebuilders. He likes to fish. His mother is Melinda Olsen and he recently lost his father, James Olsen of River Heights. Mr. Olsen has 2 daughters, Carol Muffett, Butte, Montana and Susan Janisch, Murray. He has 4 grandchildren and 4 sisters and 4 brothers. he came to us from Mon- tana. Sister Wilda Taggart is home following a mission to California, San Diego mission. She lives in the 3rd Ward. She worked exclusively with the young sisters out in the mission. She has reported her mission in the 3rd, 7th and Amalga Wards. Genden Bair, Logan, attended the Smithfield 7th Ward Relief Society opening social with his daughter, Lorraine Hansen. The 1st Ward Special Interest met at the home of Ingra VanOrden, Monday evening, with Laura Downs giving the study from the book Thy Gift of Self by Marion D. Hanks. Refreshments were served to Laura Downs, Ingra Van- Orden, Bernice Coleman, Elsie Peckington; Margue-rit- a Balls, Ncta Peterson and Birdie Downs. Mrs. Birdie Downs attended fast meeting in Hyde Park where her r, parents are Shoko and Rick Downs, was bless- ed and given the name of Amy Downs. School for two years. He is presently teaching German. He graduated from USU with a Bachelor of Arts Degree majoring in English and minored in Sociology and German. Scott fulfilled a mission to Germany in He has a brother, Paul, coach at River High, and a twin sister, Susan, who lives in Vernal with her husband and family. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Barrett and children, Jodie, Dee, Cherie, and Julie Ann, Hyde Park, were dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Bishop, Garland. Daniel Nixon, son of Jack and Charolette Nixon, Hyde Park, reported that the Hyde Park Second Ward Teachers Quorum spent an enjoyable weekend at Green Canyon riding their horses and motorbikes. The Adult Assistants to the Quorum that joined the boys were Wayne Shaffer, Rick Reed, Larry Route and counselor in the bishopric, Gary Anderson. The newly born son of Rick and Sandy Reed, Hyde Park, born Sept. 28 retained fluid in his lungs and was flown to University Hospital in Salt Lake. Recent reports indicate he is doing fine and will be able to return home to his family next week. Hyde Park Second Ward held its annual Fall Social in the evening with members of 1970-197- the Relief Society Board participating. Invitations were sent out on a cutout of a leaf with a verse written by the President, Venice Larsen. An original skit, entitled Reaching Greater Heights" portrayed excuses for not attending Relief Society and then realizing the value of it. Legion Holds 'Hunters Boll' Friday, October 15 at 8:30 p.m. there will be a Hunters Ball at the Legion Hall, sponsored by the f Olympics - ar Mini-Cours- Deacons and their fathers from the North Logan Stake went on the annual campout. North Cache Jr, High has made available to their students a choice of minicourses scheduled for a six week span. The first group of classes began Aug. 30 and will end Oct 13. Mrs. Charles (LaRaine) Pearce has been released from the hospital in Logan and is now spending a few days at the home of her daughter Shauna and Kent Parker and family in Providence. Sid and Margaret Godfrey has returned home after spending five days with their daughter Oretta and Wendell Tarbet in Hunt, Idaho. Her father, James H. Jardine, who has been staying for two weeks with his daughter Venice and Paul Pedersen in Paul, Idaho, returned home with them. Ella Stuart has gone to live in St. George for the winter, where she will work in the Temple. The Relief Society held their opening social on Friday evening. Jardine. Mayme Griffin visited on Sunday at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Leonard Pollard in Logan. Her son Claire Griffin of Maryville, Missouri, was a guest at the Pollard home. They are his wifes parents. Gaire came in to attend conference in Salt Lake Gty. The ward Sacrament meeting was conducted by LeRoy Goodey. Memberships for the following were read. Chee Smith, an Indian student at the home of Don and LaRae Godfrey; Jay and Sharon Gark and children, Alison, Ryan, Michael and Rodney. Speakers for the evening were President and Mrs. Anderson, who has-beeserving as missionaries in the Visitors Center in Los. Angelos. Also during the meeting, Janet Nelson and Janet Buttars were sustained as teachers in Primary. Also Autumn Cottle as Primary advisor for nursery, Blaine Wright was sustained as assistant Weblo leader and Richard Goodsell as assistant to the Teahcers Quorum advisor. Mr. and Mrs. Kay Neeley flew to Maine recently where they visited for a week with their daughter, Christine, and her husband, Michael Oliverson, and their family. The children are Sean, five; Tyler, four; Kimberly, one. Michael is stationed at Loring Air Fence Base near Presque Isle, Maine.
