Show J APRIL 22, 1971 THURSDAY, La Rue Stephenson who has lived in Lewiston since the age of five is married to Blaine H. Stephenson. A fifth grade teacher at Summitt School in Smithfield, Blaine was born and raised in Lewiston. They are the parents of seven children: Michael, who is married to the former Vicki Karren and is a mechanic at Palmer Motor Co. in Logan; Jeri, who lives in Logan and is the secretary to the Comptroller at Utah State University; Patsy and Paula, who are attending school at Snow College in Ephraim, Utah, where they will graduate this spring; Brent, a senior at Sky View High School; Janette, in the seventh grade at North Cache Jr. High, and Nancy, a sixth grader at Lewiston Elementary School. LaRue's parents are Dr. and Mrs. Hugh Stevens of Lewiston. She is employed at the Lewiston State Bank. She has served in. all of the LDS Church organizations both on a ward and Stake basis. At present she is serving as the Stake Mia Maid advisor. Refinishing old furniture is one of LaRues special pleasures, her latest project being their piano. She has also completed a maple dining table and six chairs and some other smaller projects. Stir in V teaspoon salt, 2 tablespoons cornstarch, and 6 tablespoons sugar. Add 7 tablespoons salad oil and l3 cup egg whites (2-- eggs). Stir until smooth. Gradually stir in 3 tablespoons water until blended. On a cookie sheet covered with foil, drop a level tablespoon of the batter for each of 6 cookies. Use the back of a spoon to spread the batter evenly into a 4 inch circle. Bake at 300 degrees for about 20 minutes, or until light brown. Remove one cookie at a time with spatula and working quickly follow steps 1 through 4. 1. Reach into oven, remove one cookie and flip over onto a gloved hand. 2. Hold fortune (paper cut into 14 by 3 inch strips with quotations, fortunes, work assignments, etc. on each paper) in center of pliable cookie while you fold it in half. 3. Grasp ends of cookie and draw gently down over edge of pan to crease. 4. Fit cookie into muffin pan to hold shape as it cools. Pat out half of meat mixture in a two quart loaf pan, spread with stuffing, then top with remaining meat mixture. Pour tomato juice over loaf and bake at 350 degrees for 1V4 hours. 0 servings. CARROT CAKE Seggs 2 44 4 cups sugar cup oil cup buttermilk 2 teaspoons vanilla 2 cups flour V4 teaspoon salt 2. teaspoons soda 2 teaspoons cinnamon 1 cup drained crushed pineapple 2 cups grated carrots 1 cup coconut 1' cup raisins 1 cup chopped nuts Beat eggs and sugar. Add oil, buttermilk and vanilla. Sift in dry ingredients. Add pineapple, carrots, coconut, raisins and nuts and mix. Bake in lightly greased and floured 13 x 9 x 214 inch pan at 350 degrees for 35 minutes. For special dessert serve with hot sauce. . . BUTTERMILK SAUCE 1 cup sugar 14 14 1 teaspoon soda cup buttermilk cube butter tablespoon white Karo Boil 5 minutes; add 1 teaspoon vanilla. Serve over hot cake. 1 Relief Societies Hold Conferences . Among those attending were a daughter Elsie and her husband Joseph W. Clarke. Fountain Valley, Calif.; a daughter Susan and her husband, James L. Smart, North Logan, and a son Winston B. Jones III and his wife Teresa, Logan. Winston and Bonnie (Elsie) were married April 12, 1926. Mrs. Jones was Elsie Jensen, Daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W.F. residents Jensen, long-tim- e of Logan. Mr. Jones is the son of the late Dr. and Mrs. Winston B. Jones. SR., formerly of Camden. Ala., who practiced medicine in Cache Valley. They have lived most of their married life in Washington I).D. and Maryland where they raised their ily . Winston was employed in electronics and eventually owned a partnership in Empire Electronics in Silver Spring, MD. During World War II he received a medal for service with the British Air Com- mission. He and a friend, Larry Cole, started and operated the first radio station in northern Utah, Station KFXD, in 1925. Since his retirement he and his wife reside in Orem. Bonnie has been a busy wife and mother and has been active in community and IT A affairs. For many years she served in leadership and teaching capacities in the Primary and YWMIA auxiliaries of the LDS Church and is a member of the Daughters of Utah Pio- neers.
