Allen and Della Ricks are happy for the safe arrival of n a born on Jan. 16 to Lon and Beverly Ricks of Preston, Idaho. Lon is the son of LaRee and Norman Ricks. Sharlene and Wayne Cardan greeted relatives and friends at an open house Saturday evening, Jan. 17, in honor of their son, John Cardon, and his bride, Deborah Iieigh Van Gilder. John and Debbie were married Dec. 19 in a ceremony performed by President Lloyd llunsaker in the Logan LDS Temple. Debbie is the daughter of Jane Stauffer Pender and W'illiam S. Van Gilder, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. She is a graduate of South Plantation High School at Ft. Lauderdale, and also of Kicks College at Rexhurg, Idaho. John is a graduate of Sky View High School and Seminary. He attended Utah State University for one year and is presently attending Kicks College. He served on an LDS mission to Washington Stale. The young couple honeymooned in Florida, where they were honored at a wedding reception by Mr and Mrs. Robert Pender. Debbie and John are now at home in Rexburg, Idaho, where they will continue their studies. Jeff Walterson, son of Barbara and Jim Walterson, and Brian Kunzler. son of Sharon and Darrell Kunzler, were presented at Sacrament meeting to receive the Aaronic Priesthood and to be ordained to the office of Deacon. At Sacrament meeting on January 18, the following names were read and the families accepted as members of the Benson Ward: Milton Hurley and his wife, Eva, and their children, Rod, IiOri, Michael, Eric, Teresa, Vernon, and Naomi; John Bergstrom and his wife, Judith, and their children, Eric, Holley, and Rex; Timothy Johnson and his wife, Shejry; Larry Munk and his wife, Nancy. Mills of Salt Lake City; a daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Manrice Harding, of Salmon, Idaho; a grandson and wife, Mr. and Mrs. James Shamberg of Blackfoot, Idaho, and Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Connary of Trenton. 's The Margaret Adam Daughters of the Utah Pioneer Camp met Jan. 8 with Captain Clara Cottle and First Vice Captain Mable Moritensen acting as hostess. The lesson was given by Clara Cottle entitled, "Hie Nurse of- - San Juan Frontier, Josephine Catherine Chatterley." Velda Spackman also gave a continued history of her greatBen-sen- grandfather. The next meeting has been scheduled for Feb. 12. in the Town Hall. Enjoying a belated Christmas visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold But-taris their daughter and Lela and George Martinez of Las Vegas. Nev. Mr. and Mrs. Lee (Valene) Nelson of Paradise enjoyed a Sunday aRernoon visit with the Martinez's. Lela and Valene are sisters. Ladies of the Trenton Arlene and Gary Hobbs and their family of American Fork visited over the weekend at the home of Garys parents, Beth and Glen Hobbs. The Relief Society held their meeting Tuesday in connection with ward conference. Special visitors were Mr. Allred of the High Council. Bishop Kulon Falslev, and members of the stake Relief Society board. Mes s. son-in-la- it- The Cub Scouts and their families enjoyed a volleyball tournament on Friday evening at the ward cultural hall. The Arrow of Light award was received by Kent Cardon, Sam Cardon, and Kevin Johnson. These boys also each received several activity badges. Also receiving activity badges were Thomas Petersen and Darren Falslev. Eric Smith received his Bobcat Award, and Steven Archibald received his Wolf award. x agency - j.iip ; ,m.iirgrro"aiEn7T .ft Ward learned some new homemaking skills at the recent Relief Society Homemaking meeting. A demonstration was given by Elva Hatch on sour dough starten and recipes. Janet Cottle also gave a very informative on how to demonstration apply appliques on children's clothing. Trenna Oswald, LaWanna Walker and Annette Godfrey gave instructions in how to make boys shorts and girls panties from tricot.' Many others enjoyed quilting throughout the day. James Spackman is now home from the Logan hospital recovering from a recent heart attack. He is reported to be doing fairly well. We all wish him a fast recovery. Brent Reeder was married to Lila Mitchell in the Logan Temple Friday, Jan. 16. Lila is from Othello. Wash.
