There are probably more names in a weekly newspaper issue than can be found in a daily of three or four times the size. Included in the papers is the Caribou County Sun, which is owned and operated by Vic and Ora Lansbury. Vic is one of the country weekly editors in the true tradition. The paper, at least one of its forerunners had been in Ruth Taylors family for years. When the paper was sold it was converted to the new offset printing method. Bill Thompson is now the publisher. The Citizen papers, the Grace Citizen, the Preston Citizen and the Cache Citizen, serve the area between Grace, Idaho and Smithfield, Utah. They are published by J. Walter Ross and Wayne Bell. The Grace Citizen is the old Grace Herald and editing the paper is Mrs. Nellie V. Johnson, who is the dean of Idaho Newspaper women, having worked for the paper almost continously for 46 The weekly newspaper-lo- ng a tradition for the small town folk has been serving the Bear River area almost since the time there had been people in any number among the valleys, hill country and lakesides. THE CACHE CITIZEN is the newest paper in the area, it was started in 1964 in Lewiston as the Cache Valley Citizen and then moved to Smithfield three years ago. Serving the Bear River valley in North Box Elder county is the Leader-Garlan- d Times, which was published for many years by one of the most respected and loved of Utahs publishers Andy Rytting. It is a combination of the Bear River Leader and the Garland Times. The old Times office is still in use in Garland as a commercial printing shop, when the owner is serving on a mission or doing other work. TYPICAL OF THE new generation of newspaper editors is Curtis Star of Tremonton who has won many awards for the Leader Garland Times. PUBLISHER OF the paper today is Curtis Starr. Last year the paper won the General Excellence award for a weekly newspaper in its division in Utah. Changes are coming to the weekly field. Where but a few years ago, each had its own press which cranked out about 1500 copies of four pages of the paper in an hour. Now all but one of the papers are being printed in a central plant on a high speed web offset press which turns out a folded paper at the rate of up to 19,500 an hour. .
