Utah's better than average economic picture will inclu- - de the employment scene over the next few months, the bankers predicted in the recently released survey. Utah would re- main partially unscathed from the economic problems facing the Nation. According to the bankers, reasons for this "immunity included: a low percentage of labor problems, large number of Federal employees, a lack of dependence on outside economic help, better government, high level of thrift and an immense energy potential. Essentially, our economy is more basic and less volatile than the Nation as a whole, one Utah Bankers Association member said. Our agriculture and mineral base has remained quite stable and our manufacturing, in addition has been the topping on the cake. Idaho and potatoes are almost synonymous. In 1973, growers in the state produced close to $179 million worth of potatoes. A vigorous potato research and extension program in the College of Agriculture helps the industry thrive. unusual discomfort in the center of the chest ; pain may radiate to shoulder, arm, neck or jaw; sweating may accompany pain or discomfort; nausea, vomiting and shortness of breath may also occur. Just as children are put through endless fire drills at school to prepare for such an emergency, we too are conditioned to respond to certain sights and sounds a red flashing light, traffic signals and sounds the wail of a siren, the clang of a fire bell. Our bodies, also, give off warnings. When we have a headache, we reach for the aspirin bottle. A toothache conjures up thoughts of a dentist. Pain and discomfort send messages and trigger responses. Without this signal that something is wrong our lives would often be in danger. When heart attack strikes, too many of its victims ignore the early warning signs, or pass them off as indigestion or heart burn, even if symptoms persist for more than six hours. That's when it can become a fatal mistake! More than 680,000 die from heart attack each year, another 200,000 will die from stroke. The average heart attack victim waits three hours before seeking help. As a result, over half die before reaching the hospital. These are the warning signs of heart attack: prolonged, oppressive pain or steadiness; change in per- sonality, mental ability or the pattern of headaches may also occur. The Idaho Heart Association cautions, however, that these are only what the name implies room is important. As the cliche goes, it's better to be sale then sorry.
