Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Balls, Mendon, entertained at dinner following the christening of their daughter Jennifer Fitzgerald's Beechcraft I've tome to the conclusion I'm a Class A. No. 1 rotten cook. It all came to a head a few years ago and my culinary arts have been sliding down hill ever since. The first time I ever turned out Baking Powder Biscuits, Bob painted a black bulls eye on one and used it for a target. In all honesty now. Bob had to teach me how to make pancakes. My mother had tried but gave up when they stuck to the griddle like glut. I built a homemade cake once when I was in the ninth grade. I followed the directions to the letter. I still had to pull the batter out of the bowl and stretch it to fit the sides of the pan. It actually came out of the pan smaller than when it went in. My father still uses it as a paper weight on his desk. My pie crusts rank up there with my ability to drive need I say more? My first pie crust stuck more to the rolling pin than it did to the pie tin. Finally, after pulling the dough off the pin and placing it into the pan, piece by piece, I fluted the broken edge. During the short time it was in the oven it disappeared. The fluted edge melted into the bottom and the bottom shrunk to the size of a tiny tart shell. So much for pie. My bread and cinnamon rolls taste delicious while they're warm, fresh from the oven. They have to be consumed immediately out of the pan or they literally get as hard as rocks and Bob begins painting circles on the buns with a big black dot in the center and then they're used for Zup-pann- She Elaine.
