Mrs. Linda Fonnesbeck and two children spent three days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ferron Robbins while her husband, Bruce, was in San Antonio, Tex., on business. Mrs. Edna Mae Johnson, who underwent surgery earlier this month, is reported up and recuperating well. Attend Wedding By ROBERT A. That evening they were honored by friends and relatives at a lovely reception held in the Smithfield stake center. They are presently honeymooning in Jackson, Wyo. Urn Bodily Mr. and Mrs. James Gittins and family of Rupert, Ida., and Mr. and Mrs. Jay Gittins and family of Salt Lake City were guests Friday and Saturday of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Gittins. They had come to attend the Logan Temple marriage of Leona Gamble and Douglas Christensen. Leona, granddaughter of the Thomas Gittins1 has been making her home with her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. LaVar McCann, Smithfield. Douglas is a son of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Christensen, Wellsville. The Gittins attended the reception held at the Delta Phi Kappa fraternity house Friday evening. Mrs. Thomas Gittins was a guest at the Thursday evening dinner given by the grooms parents at Maddox in Brigham City. The family of the late Joseph A. Ransom met last week at Fish Lake, Ida., for three days of boating, hiking, water skiing, and enjoying association with one another. All managed to survive a 20 mile hike to win their hiking merit badges. David Sorge received his life scout award and seven other merit badges at a Scout Court of Honor held recently at a three day Blazer B day camp at Hull Valley. Merit badges were also awarded to Kim Moulton. David Ncilsen, Bob Christensen and Danny Jonas. Highlights of the camp included a five mile hike, and a dinner for their parents. Ray and tarrainc Hulet are happy over the arrival of a new granddaughter born to their Diane daughter and and Lee Hunter. Lorraine spent several days last week in Provo helping with the new baby. 1 has a position in the elementary education department at Western Missouri State College in St. Joseph. Mo. Irel and Evelyn Eppich and children have returned from a vacation to South Carolina. Highlights of the trip included spending two weeks with their daughter and her husband, IaDawn and Jean Woods and their son, touring Charlslons many historical Civil War sites, swimming and water skiing and evening crab bakes. Irel and Jean enjoyed deep sea fishing, catching 40 fish between them. The Eppich 's daughter, Pamela and grandson, Cody, are currently visiting here while Pamela's husband, Gary Kidd, t, is at the Scout Jamboree at Far-ragu- Ida. EvaMunk was honored at a surprise birthday party on July 24 by her children. The party was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Willard A. Naomi Cardon Married In Temple Ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Cardon of Benson announce the mar- ' ,y,V riage of their daughter, Naomi, to Mr. Mark E. Murray, son of Mr. and Mrs. Evan G. Murray of West Point, Ut. The couple was married July 23 in the Logan LDS Temple. Following a honeymoon to the Northwest, they will make their home in Logan. Naomi is a graduate of Sky View high school and seminary and is presently employed at Moores Business Forms of Logan. Mark is a graduate of Clearfield high school and seminary and attended Weber State College. He fulfilled an LDS mission to the stale of Washington, lie is employed with Thiokol of Logan. The couple will be honored at a wedding reception at the Benson ward LDS chapel Saturday from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. All friends and relatives are invited to attend. Mrs. Hancock is Kulh Little's sister. The Dick Partridge family have returned from an enjoyable camping trip to southern Utah. The Lloyd Morey family also spent two weeks camping in the mountains. The Howard Anderson family enjoyed a day at the Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake City Monday. Bankhead of Wellsville, were married al the Logan LDS Temple Thursday, July 26. They were honored that evening at a reception at the Wellsville Second-Thirward cultural hall. VaLoy and Kick are both graduates of Sky View high school and seminary. After a short honeymoon, they will make their home in Benson. Mr. and Mrs. Steven Ballard visited in Benson over the weekend with Steven's grandmother. Mrs. Almeda Ballard, and .with other friends and d relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse (Mary) Chandler, and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Saunders and their children were visiting with relatives and friends in Benson and surrounding areas recently. Mr. and Mrs. Carl (Donna) Ham and their children from North Dakota are visiting in Benson with Donna's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin J. Ballard, and with other relatives in the valley. Mrs. Partha Slack, a former member of the ward, visited with friends here over (he weekend. The youth of the ward presented the program at sacrament mooting Sunday evening. Wayne Reese introduced the theme Our Pioneer Ancestors," and announced the program. Short talks were given by Craig Balls, Shelia Miink, Tracy Reese, Vickie Hoffman, Terry Reese, Allan Cardon ami Chris- - tine Allen. A vocal number was presented by Anna Cardon. Tammy Falslev, and Laurie Schuub. accompanied by Joyce Ballard. LuAnn Ballard played a piano solo. David Reese, son of Mr. and Mrs. Pond Reese, was presented to be ordained to the office of teacher in the Aaronic Priesthood Sunday. Craig Lofthouse, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joyner was presented to be ordained a Priest: Members of the Benson ward's former bishopric were honored at sacrament meeting Sunday. Bishop Kenneth Ballard. his counselors Robert Munk and Lee Reese and ward clerk Cecil Archibald were each presented a pen and desk set as an expression of appreciation. They were released from the bishopric in May following five years as leaders of the ward. Each spoke briefly, expressing appreciation for the opportunity to serve and for the spiritual experiences which they enjoyed while serving in the bishopric. At sacrament meeting Jed Watterson. son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Watterson, was presented to be ordained a Priest in the Aaronic Priesthood. Mr. and Mrs. Jodie Smith have returned home recently after having spent nearly a month touring Europe. They were members of the Beehive travel tour. While there, they visited France, Switzerland, Holland, F.ngland and other countries. The youth of the ward enjoyed a fireside discussion after church Sunday evening. Guest speakers were Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Parrish of Logan. Mr. and Mrs. Richard (De-AnKeller and family were guests Sunday at the home of DeAnn's parents. Mr. and Mrs. Duain Cowley. Mr. and Mi's. Naomi Cardon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Cardon and Mark Murray, son of Mr. and Mrs. Evan Murray of West Point, near Ogden, were married in a ceremony at the Logan LDS Temple Monday morning. They were honored at a wedding breakfast at the home of Naomi's parents. Naomi is currently employed al Moore's Business Forms. She is a graduate of Sky View high school and seminary. Mark graduated train high school and attended Welier State College. He served in the Washington mission, where he became acquainted with Kent Johnson and Naomi's brother. John Cardon, who were also serving in that mission. Mark is employed at Thiokol in Logan. The new Mr. and Mrs. Murray will be honored at a reception Saturday, Aug. 4 They will make their home in Logan. n) The Blazer B boys of the Primary enjoyed three days al llicir annual day camp at Hull Valley, east of Preston. Those Ixiys who participated in the activities were Billv Falslev, Dave Byington, Brad Reese and Kelley Reese. Leaders who each spent a day with the boys were Colene Lindley, Dixie Reese and Alice Cardon. The Primary held their closing summer program last Tuesday evening. It was entitled Primary That Very Special Day." Each class participated in songs, dances or other activi-- . ties. The program was under the direction of Barbara Watterson, first counselor in the Primary. Roberta Hoffman, second counselor, was the narrator. Music was under the direction of Kathy Jorgensen and Gene H. Reese. Refreshments were served to the children, parents and friends in attendance. Lewiston News Mrs. Rosemond Blair, president of the Lewiston Fourth ward Relief Society, reports that there will be a quilting Tuesday, Aug. 8 at their work day meeting. One quilt will be especially for those who wish to learn the art. A demonstration will be given by Mr. Poppleton on the use of soy beans as a meat extender. Mr. and Mrs. Zane G. Alder, Orein, hosted a wedding breakfast for 35 guests Friday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mervin Bodily, honoring their son, Mark and his bride, Ruth Anne Peters of Provo. The newlyweds made their vows that morning in the ligan LDS Temple. That evening a garden reception was held at the home of the bride's parents in Provo. |
