Merrill gathered Saturday in the Trenton ward cultural hall to honor him on his 80th birthday. A short program was held, films shown of other family gatherings, and dinner was served. His sisters attending were Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Read of Trenton, Mr. and Mrs. La Rue Jardine of Smithfield, Maggie Godfrey of Logan, Lola Littledike of Trenton. His wifes family included Mr. and Mrs. Aura Ashcroft, Mr. and Mrs. Dell Ashcroft and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Ashcroft, all of Hyde Park, Mrs. Vida Karren of Lewiston; a cousin, Mrs. Lucille Merrill of Moreland, Ida., her daughter, Pauline Randall and five daughters, also of Moreland; Verle Hulse of Smithfield, his son, Blaine and family, daughter , Mr. and Mrs. Albert (Afton) Koppes and three children of Onslow, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Irel Eppich and family, Smithfield, and Mr. and Mrs. Norvell Butler and family of Trenton. In all, he has 19 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. She was returning to her home after spending two years as a missionary for the LDS Church in Texas. Mrs. Mervin J. Bodily and daughter, Rozanne, have returned home after spending a week in Inglewood, Calif., visiting with a son and brother and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Burke Bodily. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Quigley of Portland are visiting in Lewiston with Mr. Quigleys sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Alma Kemp. Mrs. Emerett Wiser has returned to her home after a two week's tour of the Northwest. She accompanied her daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Livingston, and children to Portland and Lincoln City, Ore., where they enjoyed some deep sea fishing. They then went to Seattle, Vancouver Island and Victoria, B. C. On their return trip they spent a night in Ephrata with Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Wiser and family. The family of Mr. and Mrs. Golden Boman met on Saturday, July 15 for a family party at Deer Cliff Inn.
