MOTHER is As Senior Deputy Clerk of the District court, Karol Lou Anderson has been serving as Ex officio Auditor, Recorder, Clerk of the Board of County Commissioners and Cleric of the District Court for Franklin County in the past several months, during the illness of the late Auditor, Cleo Swenson. She is the one the other deputy auditors have looked to for direction and instruction, and the only woman seen sitting at the long table with the board of county commissioners each second Monday and at special meetings. Born in Rupert, She moved to Preston while quite young and is a .graduate of Preston High. She finished her education iat the LIDS Business College in Salt Lake City. Mrs. Anderson is a Mia Maid leader in the Seventh ward (MIA in Preston, and she enjoys gardening, sewing and snowmobiling. She also enjoys other people, as her smile and general cheerful expression testify. In a position that sometimes has unexpected moments and very varied duties, Mrs. Anderson is, by necessity "on her toes and on the go constantly. but she says she likes the definite challenge each dav. She and her phntcgrcmlier husband. Gene, are parents of four children. GORDON II. NEWBOLD Utah Power and light Company Thursday announced the appointment of Gordon II. Newbold as superintendent of its new Huntington Canyon Plant, now under const ruction and to be completed in 1974. John S. Andersron, UP&L vice president, said the appointment would be effective in February of next year. Mr. Newbold is presently superintendent of the utiitys Carbon Plant at Castle Gate, and will remain in that position until start-uactivities of the Huntington Canyon Plant early in 1973. A native of Preston, Mr. Newbold became associated with UP&L in 1947. Subsequently, he served in various capacities in the utilitys plants and in 1954, he went to Carbon Plant as shift foreman. In 1959 he became assistant superintendent and in 1962, he was promoted to superintendent of the Carbon Plant. Replacing Mr. Newbold as superintendent of Carbon Plant will be John W. York. This appointment also will be effective in February of next year, Mr. Anderson said. Mr. and Mrs. Alton Winger and Mrs. Marvel Christensen of Ogden spent Friday and , Saturday with Mrs. Merelda Winger. Earl Winger and wife of Bountiful came Wednesday to visit their mother, Mrs. Winger.
