Show Feb. Open House To Honor Mrs. Jennie Barton Mrs. Jennie S. Barton is celebrating her 80th birthdaty on March 5. An open house is being held Sunday, March 3, at the home of her daugh- - ter, Mrs. Leslie K. Mockli, at 840 East Gentile Street in Layton from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Mrs. Barton was born in Brigham City March 5. 1883, the daughter of James George and Mary Louise Smith. She has been a Relief Society visiting teacher for over 45 years, a daughter and officer of the Utah Pioneers, and a member of the Gay Nineties group for 30 years. She has also been an Avon representative for 27 years. W. K. Barton taught in the Oneida Academy for 15 years, but in 1918 he opened merchandising business, selling clothing. He stayed in this business until his death in 1937. Mr. Barton was active in local business affairs of the community and in church activities including being president of the Franklin stake for 10 years. Mrs. Barton's father was also a business man in Preston, owning a business building at the far south end of State Street. He was the first cobbler in Preston. Mrs. Barton Is the mother of 10 children, seven daughters and three sons. Two sons, in addition to her husband, have passed away. Her living children are: Mrs. Flora Hansen of Rosemeade, Calif.; Mrs. Irel L. Chase, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Sylvan Call, Bountiful; Cliff S. Bar ton, Provo; Mrs. Leslie K. Mockli, Layton; Mrs. Fred Hegerhorst, Bountiful; Mrs. Ronald Drury, Boise; Mrs. LeRoy Bodily, Colfax, Wash.
