I am acutely aware that anyone who ventures to succeed Calvin L. Rampton has some mighty big shoes to fill. The emotion of confidence comes from the realization and knowledge that under the astute leadership of Governor Rampton, Utahs state finances are in excellent condition. In the past twelve years, the rate of increase in state taxes has been the lowest of any state in the nation. Utah has expanding employment opportunities, a of the imaginiative and innovative programs launched and promoted by the Rampton administration. Our present Utah state government is in tune with the needs of its people, is open and accessible to its citizens and has been operated with the same, concern for the expenditure of the taxpayers' dollars as a prudent individual would with his own funds.
