Trustee, Zions First National Bank, will sell at public auction to the highest bidder in cash payable in lawful money of the United States without warranty as to title, possession, or encumbrances, and subject to all prior liens and encumbrances, the following described property located at 1816 Grover Lane, Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah, more particularly described as follows: 9 1-- 30) Cause of Death in Wild Birds has Been Discovered The recent death of 4,000-5,00- 0 grebes, gulls and ducks on the great Salt Lake has been attirbuted to an infection called Erysipelas, according to the Department of the Interior Area Manager and the Department of the Interior Laboratory. Seven birds were taken to the laboratory for examination. Technicians there discovered . . . bacteria in tremendous numbers in the birds tissues. The causitive bacteria is Erysipelothrix Insidiosa. According to the laboratory report, the bacteria is a fairly common sort, found mostly in domestic animals, primarily turkey and swine. It has, however, been reported in several species of wild birds. The infection is similar to the infection of the same name that occurs in man. The lab report confirmed earlier reports by the Division that the large number of birds killed was probably due to a natural phenomena complicated by rather severe weather conditions on the marshlands of Utah. Erysipelas is indigenous to the birds and is carried without effect by healthy animals. The animals condition, in this case, was aggravated by the stress of migration and the heavy storms in Utah during the Thanksgiving holiday period. Red Shelton of the U.S. Department of the Interior likened the bacteria to that of the flu or common cold. When you or I go skiing or get run down from too much exposure or work. American Legion Takes Part in Fight Against Cancer Cancer, the common foe of all manking, inflicts far greater casualties than all the wars in which the United States has been involved. This fact is behind a joint effort in which Utah members of the American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary will aid the American Cancer Society in raising funds to wipe out cancer in our lifetime. The cooperative program was announced at the recent American Legion national convention in Minneapolis, Minnesota, by National Commander Harry G. Wiles. The Commander of the Legion in Utah, J. Dale Madsen, and the State Director of the Auxiliary, Mrs. Blaine Funk of Ogden, have pledged their support to the program. The effort, now under way throughout the country, involves intensive educational and fundraising activities among Legion and Auxiliary members. Commander Madsen and Mrs. Funk have asked Utah members to contact local American Cancer Society units to offer their services and to take leadership roles in the annual Crusade in April. Members of posts and units throughout the state will be planning special events to raise funds for the Cancer Society before September, 1976. In addition, American Legion members will be making personal contributions to the fight against cancer. g Besides the effort, American Legion and Auxiliary members will also take part in educational activities. Programs on cancer will lung and colon-rectube offered to Legion posts, and programs on breast and uterine cancer will be available to Auxiliary units. Mrs. Funk reports that already 27 of the 93 auxiliary units have conducted cancer education programs and plans call for all 93 units to provide a similar program to members during the year. Dr. Harry G. Hicks, president of the Utah Division, American Cancer Society, has commended the American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary for this humanitarian effort which parallels both organizations continued devotion to the welfare of all people. fund-raisin- m 3 LOOK 3T 113 BOOK BY DR. BOB BOB JONES GREENVILLE. The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul (Psalm 121:7). I am glad we have a Saviour Whose power is sufficient. His power is sufficient in the hour of temptation. God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape (I Corinthians 10:13). For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted (Hebrews 2:18). He is faithful in times of distress. Christians are not promised freedom from the things to which all flesh is heir sickness, sadness, misfortune, and death. In Adam all die (I Corinthians 15:22). If there is a depression, we will be hungry. If there is a revolution, we will suffer. But in every circumstance all things are good in their working together in behalf of those who love God and are surrendered to His will (Romans 8:28). If a weapon is formed against Gods people, it cannot prosper (Isaiah 54:17); God will turn back on those who hurl them all weapons that they have forged against His people. Even the wrath of men ... JONES University 79614 SOUTH CAROLINA He makes to praise Him; the remainder of wrath He restrains (Psalm 76:10). This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord ...(Isaiah 54:17). He shall preserve thy soul. Mens souls are under strong attack today. False religions, worldliness, deceptions, the plans for Antichrist and his John the Baptist who precedes him to prepare his way, the illusion of the pot of gold at rainthe end of a bow, peace, peace when there is sudden destruction, and safety where there is no safety all of these are Satanic weapons hurled at the souls of men to delude them. There will come a time when a third of all flesh shall die because of these delusions; but today, tomorrow, henceforth and forever we are accepted in the Beloved, and He watches over our souls. At one in Christ, there is no veil between and no sin to divide. The soul is preserved forever made clean in the Blood of Jesus Christ and protected in the eternal, omnipotent hand of the God of the Ages to Whom a thousand years are as a day and a day as a thousand years (II Peter 3:8). non-existe- nt |
