Bradshaw, chairman of the Jtah Savings and Loan Leagues Public Information Committee. Mr. Bradshaw said that a recent article in U.S. News and World Report noted that people are saving less. This is not true as far as people n Utah are concerned who save at insured savings and loan associations, he said. The average size of a savings account has increased from $2,479 at the end of July, 1971 to $2,805 at the end of July, 1972. Total savings have increased :rom $449,188,283 after the first seven months of 1971 to at the end of July this year. Mr. Bradshaw said that the Jtah public poured $63,525,670 :nto Utahs insured savings and oan associations through July of last year and they are more than matching that pace this year. At ;he end of July $65,144,618 had seen deposited in the insured associations. Utahs insured savings and oan associations are among the leaders in providing financing ::or homes in the state, Mr. Bradshaw said. As savings con-inu- e to grow, money for home oans becomes readily available for qualified home buyers. Funds for home mortgages are ample at present. Now is a good time to my a home with interest rates at their lowest level in several $548,-122,0- years. 04 Page Eleven Hansen Planetarium Star Shows Wanted by Other Planetariums Last year at this time the Hansen Planetarium was presenting an original science fiction star show called The Final Journey. One year later that show is now playing to capacity at the new large Minolta Planetarium in Cupertino Calif. Meanwhile, beginning in late September, The Final Journey will make its debut at the McDonnel Planetarium in St. Louis, even as its 4 month run at the Minolta Planetarium continues. These presentations mark the first time that any planetarium has sold or leased a show to another. Normally each planetarium develops its own star show. This present departure from tradition began in 1969 when the Hansen Planetarium sent reverberations through the field with another of its program firsts a science fiction star program based on a novel by the famous astronomer Fred Hoyle. Public response was so favorable that the Hansen Planetarium then produced the first entirely orig-iscience fiction star show last year. This event brought a number of planetarium directors to Salt Lake City to appraise this new direction in programming. For use of The Final Journey, other planetariums pay the Hansen Planetarium a royalty based on a percentage of show revenue. The recognition and honor that interest has brought to the Hansen Planetarium has been a source of pride to the staff, but speaking more tangibly, it means a new source of al BEST SELLING NOVEL NOW income with which to develop the recently launched exhibit program or perhaps to construct a public observatory so that the Hansen Planetarium may serve the citizens of the Salt Lake Valley more fully than ever before.
