Show THE SALT LAKE TIMES FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 15, 1972 University of Utah In Outreach Program National Business Leaders Will Address Safety Conference Heading an array of nationally known safety experts, appearing before the 44th annual Utah Safety Conference and Exhibits at the Rodeway Inn on Sept. 21 and 22, will be Ralph T. Glasson, senior vice president and general manager, Wesetrn Division of United Air Lines, with headquarters in San Francisco. Glasson is a native of San Francisco and attended the University of Illinois and is a graduate of the College of San Mateo and Stanford University, holding a Masters Degree from the latter. He also attended the Advancement can Society of Safety Engineers Awards and a special award being presented by the Utah Safety Council. The conference is open to the public. Waterfowl Seasons 7 Open October 7 October marks the opening of Utahs general waterfowl season. Ducks, Wilsons snipe and whistling swans may be taken Oct. 7, while the goose season in most counties is Oct. 7-J- an. 14-De- c. 17. Waterfowl shooting hours are one-ha- lf hour before sunrise to sunset every day, except Oct. 7, when shooting hour will be from noon to sunset and Nov. 11, the opening of pheasant hunting, when hours will be from 8 a.m. until sunset. Bag limit for ducks are six daily and 12 in possession. ducks will not be hunted 1972 season. Mr. Glasson is a member of the Board of Directors of the Peninsula Hospital and Medical Center, the Bay Area Pollution Controlled Adivorsy Council, the Society of Automotive Engineers and the Board of Directors of the Peninsula Association for Retarded Children and Adults. His presentation to the conference delegates will be of Safety Innovations for Airline Security, a topic which is most timely and of vital interest to every Utahn interested in airline security and safety. Other nationally recognized speakers to appear during the conference include Otto F. Jones, Counseling Service Administrator, director, Insight Program, Utah Copper Division, Kennecott Copper Corp., Salt Lake City. Mr. Jones presentation will be The Problem Worker." The two day conference is sponsored by the Utah Safety Council and the Utah Chapter, American Society of Safety Engineers. The Awards Banquet on Sept. 22 will see the presentation of the Julian Bamberger Memorial Traffic Safety award, the Industrial Safety Awards, presented by the Industrial Commission of Utah and the Ameri Can-vasba- ten. Goose limits are six daily or in possession, with no more than one Ross goose nor more than two birds of the dark species. Geese may be taken only during 17, the period of Nov. in Daggett and Uintah counties, where the bag and possession limit is one Canada goose. Additionally, goose hunting is prohibited in all of Carbon County, a portion of Emery County and 25-De- c. on Fish Springs National Wildlife Refuge. There will be 2,500 special permits issued for whistling swans this season with a limit of one per permit holder. Rampton, n connection with the University of Utah will proclaim October as Outreach Month in the state of Utah. This will be the second year of the student Outreach program, a program designed to assist low income students of all backgrounds in obtaining a higher education. During Outreach Month, the University students will be coordinating numerous on campus and off campus activities to raise funds for financial aid. On corn-pu- s activities will include homecoming, a film festival, a concert, a stomp and a fair. The major off campus activity will be the Community Clean-u- p campaign. Last year, this activity was an overwhelming success, largely due to the cooperation of the Salt Lake business community. To make this years clean up campaign even more successful, we will again need your support. Student volunteers will work :n several areas of Salt Lake City on Oct. 14. Each student will be sponsored by a member of the business community. To sponsor a student, a business agrees to donate the daily eight hour wage of one of its employees or more to the Outreach Scholarship Fund. In return, the business name will be placed on the officially published Outreach sponsor list and Salt Lake City will be a cleaner, more attractive place in which to live. All proceeds will be used for financial aid to disadvantaged students at the University of Utah. Contributions are tax deductible. . If you itemize deductions, you may deduct a political contribution of $50 if you are single or $100 if you are married and REW Regional Office Meets Indian Tribes The Department of Health Education and Welfares regional Office of Education in Denver will meet with leaders of over 77 Indian tribes in order to in form them of the provisions of the Federal Education Amendments Act of 1972 which pertain to Indian education. The first in the conference,r will be at Eastern Montana Col lege in Billings Sept. 13, accord ing to Regional Education Com missioner Leon Minear. Abou 250 people will participate. Dwight Billedeaux, coordina tor of Indian culture at Eastern Montana College, is local coordinator for the conference. YWCA Announces Registration Dates The Salt Lake City YWCA will take registrations the week of 3 for the fall series of Sept. classes due to begin the week of Sept. 25. Registration will be Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.. and Saturday morning from 9 to 12 at 18-2- noon. Courses to be offered for adults in 10 week session include Hatha Yoga for Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced students, as well as club and beginner couples Yoga. Rather. his life is a normal, victorious Christian life that brings glory to God.
