Show THE SALT LAKE TIMES Safety Conference Set for September The 1971 Utah Safety Conference and Exhibits will be held in Salt Lake City on September 23 and 24, 1971, Richard G. Taylor, President of the Utah Safety Council announced. The Annual Conference, Taylor said, is among one of the larger affairs to be held in the western part of the United States. It brings together persons throughout the intermountain area interested in attaining safety in business, industry and on the highways. Chairman for the 1971 affair is Fred Montmorency, Brazier, Montmorency, Hayes and Talbot Architects Inc. and First Vice President for the Utah Safety Council. Serving with Mr. Montmorency will be John E. Timper, Hercules Incorporated, Clearfield Operation, as Vice Chairman, and Edward Wallace, State Insurance Fund, Salt Lake City, as Secretary-Treasure- r. Other Committee members include Ross Pino, Kennecott Copper Corporation; G. Ernest Bourne, Manager, Utah Safety Council; Leo H. Barlow, Insurance Thrift Agency; Jack Nuttall, EIMCO; Darcie White, Utah Power and Light Company; Martell Ellis, Utah Industrial Commission; La Voir Merrell, Geneva Works, U. S. Steel; Clair Coleman, Mountain Fuel Supply; R. N. McArt, Hercules Incorporated; and Marvin H. Powell, Deputy Manager, Utah Safety Council. The Conference, Taylor said, is jointly sponsored by the Utah Chapter, American Society of Safety Engineers, and the Utah Safety Council. Allan Hunter, president and general manager of Utah Power & Light, has been reelected as president of Western Energy Supply and Transmission (WEST )Associates. WEST is an association of 23 public and private utilities operating in 11 western states. Members include investor owned utilities, cooperatives and municipal electric systems. The association was founded in 1964 for the purpose of encouraging integrated regional planning of generation and transmission facilities to better provide adequate and reliable sources of power for customers of member systems. Other association officers chosen at the annual meeting of WEST in Phoenix included reappointments of Robert Gordon of Utah Power & Light as the chairman of the Legal Committee and James L.
