Show THE SALT LAKE TIMES Teacher Educators Meet in Logan To Review Newest Methods The Utah people responsible for training teachers will meet Friday, April 30, at Utah State University, to review the latest innovations in ' performance-base- d teacher education. The annual meeting of the Utah Unit of the Association of Teacher Educators will feature demonstrations which involve the participants as students. Participants will be part of lessons where they learn first hand, how effective lessons are on asking effective questions, learning the intricacies of a 16 mm sound motion picture or learning by inquiry through the use of geoboards. Dr. Karl Masanari, associate director of the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education, will be the keynote speaker. Also on the program will be Dr. Walter Borg, from the Far West Laboratory for Educational Research. He will present some self teaching minicourses for teachers where the teachers learn then actually view how well they applied the lesson to their teaching by using a video tape recorder. Educators from colleges and universities, the office of the Utah State Board of Education, local school district offices plus teachers and principles will be involved in the meetings. The performance based concept refers to the listing of the measurable objectives for teaching and then following up to make sure that these objectives were actually reached. Dr. Roger Mourtinsen, teach pro-jectu- re er education specialist for the State Board of Education and chairman of the State Teacher Advisory Committee is in charge of the meeting. We hope to the best innovative ideas spread in helping to train more effective teachers at the meeting, he said. About 240 educators are expected to attend. The licenses are issued by the Coast Guard after proof of experience by the applicant and satisfactory completion of a written examination. In additoin to the operators license, any such motorboat with more than six passengers must also be in possession of a valid certificate of inspection from the Coast Guard indicating the particulars of its permitted operations. Although her poise, as well as her exotic yet fresh appeal, helped her win the High School Cover Girl title, Debbie feels she owes success to her special look. All through the year shes outdoors every possible minute and while being tanned comes naturally, she works at keeping her complexion softly smooth and radiant. Knowing that sun tends to dry out the skin, Debbie never washes her face with soap. Instead she always cream-washe- s with Noxzema and water because the fluffy white medicated cream has cleansing and moisturizing properties that soap cant match. Keeping her warm coloring at its magnificent best is the next thing Debbie works at. And Cover Girl Make-u- p is her suntime steady. When I won the High School Cover Girl Contest, it was the greatest thing that ever happened to me, says Debbie. Besides all the fantastic things I saw and did, I learned a lot. Big things.
