Villiam.Fulbright to hold hearings on the International Wheat rade Convention. The text of the telegram is as follows: '1 strongly urge you to hold learings on the United States participation in the International Wheat Trade Convention to determine if it will be in the jest interest of the United States o continue in this agreement. I eel it is an obvious failure and he continuation of the agreement would be a slap in the faces of American wheat producers who had absolutely no say in the commodity agreement but bear directly the prices which have resulted from the pact. Termination of the conven-iowould strengthen domestic wheat prices by eliminating the export tax on U.S. wheat. This tax is variously referred to as an 'inverse subsidy or certificate cost and is paid by the exporter . Under this setup, it means the exporter has to buy wheat at a lower price from the U.S. producer. Elimination of he tax would bolster sagging prices. When the U.S. Senate ratified the Trade Convention, predicted it would bring wheat ligher prices and increased exports. The opposite results liave been obtained. The average arm price of wheat in June, 969 was $1.22 a bushel the owest reported price for this month since 1942. Total U.S. wheat exports have declined some 29.7 percent since the Trade Convention went into effect. Meanwhile, exports of durum wheat a class not covered by the Trade Convention have increased. I think it should be very obvious to anyone that further participation in the International Wheat Trade Convention would be foolish and against the best economic interests of the United States. n, What color car do you drive? The oldest worker, Mr. Stevens of Salt Lake City, is 94 and sings while he works. Each Green Thumb workers works an average of three days a week and earns up to 21500 a year. They must pass a physical examination. Green Thumb workers usually work in crews of seven with one serving as foreman. Each Green ' 'humb foreman cooperates with lighway Department Station foreman. Their efforts' during he last year and a half resulted in new parks, highway rest area camp grounds and the landscaping of Highway Stations and e buildings in the Highway Districts of Utah.
