In applying for the SLTA scholarship Miss Holmes stated, I have made my future plans because of my intense desire to teach. In the teaching profession I can educate the youngsters of my society and help to enhance the world around me. This scholarship will give me the chance to attain my goals. The purpose of the SLTA scholarship is to attract competent high school graduates to choose teaching as a profession. Among the standards included in selecting candidates are schohealth, larship, personality, need, sincerity of purpose, integrity, etc. The Teacher Education and Profesional Standards Committee of the Association made the selection. The teachers serving on this committee are John Roos, Chairman; Bob Smith, Frances Whitworth, Hugh Rush, and Eva Peterson. This award was presented to Miss Holmes at a reception for F.T.A. members from each of Salt Lakes four high schools. The reception was held April 27, 1967, at the Lowell School as a climax to April is Teaching Career Month. Two Utah Districts Receive Grants Two Utah School districts will receive a total of $73,445 in Federal impacted area education grants, according to Sen. Frank E. Moss, D-Uta- h. Cache County School District will receive $48,326. The District is tentatively entitled to $64,435 for the present school year.
