City, Utah 81110 Ldce HI COIMY VOLUME XXXVII NUMBER EIGHTEEN 4, 1972 Lori Lee Thiriot is the daugh- ter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald G. Thiriot of Coalville. She is a junior member of the American Legion Auxiliary and will be a Senior at North Summit High School this fall. She is active in both church and school functions. This year she is Publicity Manager for the high school F.H.A.; president and a member of the Drill Team. She has also been J.V. cheerleader; has held other F.H.A. offices, and has placed in region business contests. She enjoys water and snow skiing, all sports and likes to play the piano. Last week it was Bryan Geary, popular and successful service station The Black Willow Softball team opened the season May 1, by defeating Culp Construction by DeAnn Geary is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Dean Geary of Coalville. She is a Junior member of the Amer- 6-- 5. The Black Willows got four runs in the fourth inning. Culp came back in the last inning, aided by errors and scored five runs. The Black Willows in their final time at bat scored ican Legion Auxiliary. At North Summit High School she is a junior and is an active member of the Model U.N. and Thespian Clubs. She is interested in history and Government. She enjoys music and water sports. two runs. Kerry Pace and Jerry Pace each had two hits. Kerry Pace also batted in the winning two runs. REEDA FRAN WARNER Reeda Fran Warner, age 16, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Reed A. Warner of Coalville. She is a member of the Junior Class of North Summit High School; President of the Pep Club; a member of North Summit Thespian Club and has participated in several school plays. She was a member of the Junior Prom Committee. Sam Lewis pitched a fine game for the Black Willows. Anna D. Dillree Pink Lady Head Mrs. John Stewart, State Chairman and Mrs. La Rue Howe, State Treasurer met with the Coalville Pink Ladies to help them get their program started. If a program is a success it is very helpful and rewarding for the volunteer and also the hospital. Anyone who is interested in volunteer work for 4 hours a week or would be interested in joining the Auxiliary please contact Anna Dean Dillree. TEENA JUDD Teena Judd, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rulon V. Judd. She is interested in sports and music. She has been Class Secretary, Assemble and Float Chairman, and has been an active member of the North Summit Drill Team during the past year. HEIDI ANN WILLIAMS Heidi Ann Williams, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert A.Williams. She is 17 years old and a member of the graduating class of 1973. Her activities this year included being, a cheerleader and a member of the school's Drill Team. She was chairman of the Junior Prom and Drum Majorette for the NorthSummit Band. LORI LEE THIRIOT a score of Her hobbies are music, cooking, sewing and all sports. R. D. "Bud McConaughy, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. C. McConaughy of Morgan, assumed management on May 1 of the three veekly newspapers operated by operator in Coalville. His advertisement in The Summit County Bee was signed "Texaco Service Station." Everybody knows that Geary's is CONOCO. But Bry had so many calls on his tire sale that he didn't seem to mind too much -j- ust as long as they used his name. We at The Bee are sorry, anyhow. And this week it's properly listed as Bryan Geary Con- oco Service Station. (We hope.) His title is general nanager of The Morgan County Vews, The Summit County Bee find The Park Record. "We're definitely not retiring," said Mrs. McConaughy. "We'll still be around some place, but we hope to take it a little easier." She is associate editor and Mac McConaughy detains the title of publisher. Bud McConaughy is unusually for his new post. In 1954 he graduated from Creighton University, Omaha, Nebr., with a degree in Journalism, and Immediately entered the United States Army as a second lieutenant of infantry. He served in the States and in Germany and retired with a well-train- ed . captaincy in 1959. Following a stint of employment with Utah newspapers, he entered the cable television field and attained distinction and several promotions in and Tulsa, Okla.Itis with a great deal of pride and supreme confidence that the owners are turning over complete management of the newspapers to their son, they agreed. Bud and Geri have five children, four girls and a boy, ranging in age from 8 to 16 years. Geri is also a graduate of Creighton University, and is a highly qualified medical technologist. The family will join Bud here as soon as the usual house-hunti- ng riddle is solved. Mac and Louise McConaughy came from Omaha Jan. 1, 1956 to purchase The News and The Bee, and three months later they purchased The Park Record upon the death of LePage Raddon. Under their management the newspapers have attained wide state and national honors, and Mac has served as board member, officer and president of the Utah State Press association. Louise has been very active in Morgan civic and social circles. They will, of course, continue to make their home in Morgfcu Day Held Clean-U- p were elected: Anna Dean Dillree as president; Beverly Mair as President Elect and Mable Wilde as Secretary-Treasure- r. Last Friday was clean up day for the grade school. Kindergarten to sixth grade students were hustling over the playground, up and down the hills, The Stake May Festival will be held May 11 at 7:30 p.m. at the Henefer Chapel. The Relief Society Chorus will sing several numbers. Those Visiting Teachers with 100 will be honored. There will be a Fashion Show of fashions made by the Sisters in the Stake. The food will be special featuring open face sandwiches, cookies, candies and punch to drink. To celebrate Arbor Day, the grades dug the holes and planted their trees. Each grade has a tree and they are responsible for keeping it watered. of its new Mobile Savings Cen- ter. This unique 'Savings -- & Loan on Wheels" is a first for the Intermountain West. Each week, the mobile facility will service eastern Utah, visiting four towns on a regular schedule. The Savings Center will be in Coalville, Thursday, May 11 at 10 a.m. next to Morby's Store on Main. The interior of the facility was designed to Deseret Fed- eral's specifications. Several customers can be accomodated at the same time at the tellers' windows and the desks. Comit is pletely equipped with all the required security measures, including electronic surveillance.No money will be carried in the unit while it is on the road. The manager, who is also the driver, will be Richard Turner of Heber City. Tellers on duty will come from the various towns where the unit is stationed. Open during business hours, the "Savings & Loan on Wheels" will provide all of Deseret Federal's regular air-conditio- services. Grand Opening celebrations will be held starting May 8 in Roosevelt, May 9th in Park City, and May 10th In Heber City. Appoint Dairy Council Head In a recent meeting of the Dairy Council of Utah elections were held and Lynn Cbrenson was elected president, Ted Roper, vice president, Edmond L. McDougal, secretary and George Winder, treasurer. Congratulations to these fine men and the best of success in their endeavors.
