Show Mr. and Mrs. laques Wed 50 Years Merlin the Magician Entertains South High with Spooky Tricks Services Saturday for Frank Taylor HENEFE- RFrank Taylor, 83, Ogden, died April 24 in an Ogden hospital. He was born Aug. 23, 1884, Henefer to John and Esther Britton Taylor. Married Ada Marshall, Sept. 1, 1914, Salt Lake LDS Temple. Burial Ogden City Cemetery. Mo-Bri- de, John F. Jaques will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary with an open house in the Henefer Ward Cultural Hall this Sunday. They 1918 were married May 1, in the Salt Lake Temple and have lived In Henefer since 1950. Prior to that they lived for many years in Devil's Slide where Mr. Jaques was employed by Ideal Cement Co. During that time he also was president of the Sunday School and the YMMIA. Mrs. Jaques has served in the Relief Society Presidency and u a vlsitlngteacher.Shelsalso a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. They have six children, Mr. Dean C. Jaques, Burns, Oregon; Mrs. Joseph (Thelma) Rees Mrs. Ordell (Della) Stephens; Mrs. Monroe (Rhea) Iverson, Mrs. Frank (Edna) Little and Mrs. Homer (Merla) Foust. They have 25 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. They are being honored by their family by an open house in the Henefer Ward Cultural Hall from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 5. Judd Jones 90, of Henefer died April 25 at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Mabel Curry in Morgan after a short illness. She was born March 30,1878, in Henefer, a daughter of George and Jane Paskett Judd. She was married to Thomas Allen Jones Sept. 21, 1898, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died July 4, 1938. She was a member of the Henefer LDS Ward and Relief PTA SCHOLARSHIP The PTA Scholarship Fund is by $125 after the very successful variety show Friday, April 26 where a large crowd enjoyed the wide variety of talent displayed. This money will go to help North Summit students to further their education in a university or a trade school. The success of this years program is a beginning of years of providing help to students. Master of ceremonies was Loyal Pace, North Summit Student Body president for this term. Bishop Ted London officiated and members of the lmmdlate familied attended the ceremonies. Dennis Jenkins served as best man and bridesmaids were Rona Robinson, Susan Jenkins, Shan-n- a Nowling and Sally Robinson. Jonl Jenkins was flower girl. The bride was attired in a white satin sheath which featured a lace bodice, long sleeves coming to a point over the wrist and a wide lace bond at the hemline which was echoed on the hemline of the satin train. The bridesmaids wore lemon sheathes with puff yellow sleeves which were made of whipped cream chiffon. The tiny flower girls gown matched cards. SHS Graduation for for senior class of 1968 will take place on Thursday May 23, with a program presented by the seniors. R. (Bill) Hinds, industrial relations director for the Company. Mr. Toole will be one of the two employees receiving a ar service pin. Carlyle B. Christensen, senior section head in the Companys Salt Lake distribution accounting section, will be the other ar award. recipient of a M. M. Fidlar, Mountain Fuel president will make the presentations. Heading the list of service award honorees will be Clyde R. James, distribution manager of marketing in Salt Lake City, who will receive his pin. Service awards are presented each year at Company-spon-sor- el dinners to those employees who have multiples of five years of service as a token of appreciation for long and responsible association with Mountain Fuel. Dinners have already been held in Rock Springs, Wyo.; Ogden and Salt Lake City. The May 3 dinner will be the fourth and final awards dinner schedules by the Company this year, Mr. Hinds said. A total of 213 employees in the four-sta- te area of Mountain Fuels operations will have been honored after the May 3 Service Awards Dinner, Mr. Hinds said. These employees represent a total of 2,875 years of service, or an average of 13.7 years, he added. For those who werent in the music department it was a nice break, but to those who attended, it was a very long day, starting at 7:30 a.m. with the loading of the buses at the school, and ended at 5 p.m. Thank goodness for the ride down where the students could get the sleep from their mid-we- ek eyes or catch a few minutes extra rest. The festival was held at the Morgan High School. All the bands played in the auditorium and the choruses sang in the gym. The band and the girls chorus all received a number three rating. The Mixed Chorua received a number two rating. Though the different groups did not receive number one ratings they did an outstanding Job and have something to work for next year. SSHS "Merlin the Magician ", was sponsored by the Lettermans Club Thursday. At 3:15 Merlin gave a glimpse of his power to the student body. He started to pull silver dollars out of the air, from out of peoples hair, and from behind peoples earsNnw we know where Michael Franson keeps his silver dollars, dont we Mike.) Later that evening Merlin presented his show. He started if off with a ritual dance and then went into some mind reading and spirit writing. Then he looked into the audience and started repeating peoples initials. These people .would think of a question and Merlin would answer it without even hearing what the question was. One question was How would South Summits basketball season be next year? The answer was, "fairly good basketball season. Steven Sweena, Kim Simpson, Rolf Schumann, Denise Jorgenson, David Ure, and Rex hypCrystal were picked to notized. After hypnotising them, Merlin told them they were stuck to their chairs and to try and get up. Not one of the boys could rise from his seat. He also told them there were ants crawling on them and the boys started to brush them off. He gave Steven Sweena a pair of ordinary glasses and told him that when he put them on be would see people in funny shapes. Steve put them on and began to laugh. The boys were really good sports about it all and took the kidding the next day in good humor. SSHS Friday the Fauvine s (pep club) had a dress-u- p day and then went to SLC for dinner and to see the movie, "Guess Who Is coming to Dinner. Also on Friday the Junior Class went to Coalville swimming then to a chicken dinner at the "Chicken Inn. SSHS Thursday, Friday and Saturday teams from South Summit participated in the BYU Invitational Track Meet at the "Y".
