Reese Hunter foul-mouth- ed such as a Jerry Rubin type. On the other hand, he may be in any walk of life and in his may enjoy the highest degree of respect community. At whatever level he finds himself, he has one specific job. His job is to be an agitator. As Anatole Lunarcharsky, a former Russian Commissar of Education declared: We Editors Outlook He may appear on the scene as a filthy, radical ranting expletives and invectives hate Christians and Christianity. Even the best of them must be considered our worst enemies. They preach love of ones neighbor and mercy, which is contrary to our principles. Christian love is an obstacle to the development of the Revolution. Down with love of our Only then can we neighbor! What we want is hate conquer the universe. .... Divide and Conquer Has it ever occurred to you that the world is being divided in just about every way imaginable? For example, on a nation basis there is an East and West Germany, an East and West Berlin, a North and South Korea, a North and South Vietnam, Free China and Red China, Northern and Southern Ireland, etc. In other things we have men vs. women (womens lib), youth vs. maturity (generation gap), hawks vs. doves, vs. whites, rich and blacks vs. whites, Mexican-America- n poor, labor vs. management, parents vs. children (abortion), etc. The tempo of animosity between these divisions is increasing. Do you suppose it has been planned that way or did it all occur by an unfortunate accident? According to the Communist dialectic, or dialectic materialism, nature is full of opposing forces. When enough pressure is applied to these forces an inevitable clash occurs. Out of that conflict emerges a new force which begins the process all over again. Thus, the Communists believe that they have obtained the key to the universe and through the process of dialectical communism is materialism the establishing of world-wid- e inevitable. The purpose of the Communist Party is to be the catalyst which sets things in motion. The Party must set the stage for the opposing forces who are to be antagonists in the great conflict. Out of this conflict will come revolution , a key word in Red jargon. One only has to look about him with his eyes open to see the success this philosophy of revolution has had. Seemingly, everything is in a state of revolution including the revolt against morality and God. Division and suspicion is rampant. In times past, all of us were simply American citizens, happy and proud to be living in a great and free country. Today, these professional revolutionaries have us divided into groups each snarling and fighting the other. They have worked us into the position where many are demanding slavery in place of freedom. Many want to tear down the basic structure of our society, the only system in history that has allowed people to be free and There is the key: DIVIDE AND CONQUER. How do we fare in the state of Utah? Last Saturday, April 29, the Salt Palace was host to Reies Lopez Tijerina who was described by the Salt Lake Tribune as a controversial Chicano organizer from New Mexico." Tijerina was reported to have told his audience that this is a time of awakening and awareness on the part of all people. Everyone is on the move," he said. I have to give credit to the Black people. They began to shake this planet. The Indians were next, followed by the Chicanos. Now the whole world is marching. In the midst of all this we can fight. Also speaking on the same platform at an earlier meeting of this Conference was Utah's own Governor Calvin Rampton. One can only conjecture as to what the Governor had to say since his words were discreetly omitted from the press. Thats unusual for Cal. The Utah Independent will print more about Tijerina in a subsequent issue. The University of Utah now employs a close comrade of Reies Tijerina. He is the very respectable" Clark Knowlton. In speaking to the G.I. Forum in Las Cruces, New Mexico on June 11, 1966, Knowlton said the following: . . . The lesson of the Negro struggle is: no minority group in the United States can expect to obtain justice unless it is willing to fight for it. No minority group can obtain much federal assistance unless it can direct the harsh light of publicity upon the unfortunate conditions n in which it lives. A friend and I decided to attend the public meetings of the MUN to observe what type of things might take place. On Wednesday night Professor Allen S. Witing, Professor of Political Science at University of Michigan and member of the Council on Foreign Relations in New York, spoke on China and the Future. Whitings talk was divided into the two categories of Chinas Capabilities and Chinas Intentions. He pointed out that whereas Secretary of Defense Laird said that China has a large land army, China actually has 2.7 million men, which is about the same as our army. Whiting neglected to add that in China the persons we call support troops are civilians. Thus for each combat soldier wrc have the Red Chinese apparently have five. In a similar vein Professor Whiting was not completely honest with his uninformed audience. On Thursday night the opening ceremonies of the MUN were held in the Special Events Center. Delegates are selected from 76 Utah high schools to represent all the member nations of the UN. Due to the methods of training used, the students adopt the attitudes desired by the supporters of the UN. Mrs. David K. Watkiss, who welcomed the students, said she hoped that they, as the first generation of citizens of the world, would be able to overcome the old fears and stereotypes and that chauvinism would give way to universal humanism. One student took her at her word and booed the American flag when it was presented. After his keynote speech, I talked with Mr. Bhutani, Consul General from India in San Francisco. Mr. personally Bhutani holds degrees from the Universities of Peking, New Delhi, and Oxford. I asked if the UN could be expected to aid the US in getting its prisoners released from North Vietnam. He replied that the UN has no part of the Vietnam war, and could not interject itself in this matter. I then pointed out to him that SEATO is in the Vietnam war, and that SEATO is part of the UN. Somewhat chagrined he acknowledged that I was technically correct, and he then lost interest in our conversation. On Friday afternoon I arrived at Congressman Sherman P. Lloyds speech in time to hear him tell the students that whereas we older people may not see it, you may expect to live und der a Constitution. After his talk I introduced myself and asked if the U.S. can expect its share of the UN assessment, which is 3 1 percent of the One-Worl- Continued On Page 3 |
