Independent Recode its Outlook Dedicated To The Constitution, Liberty, Morality, and Truth Impeach Nixon? Dear Editor: We have just sent the following Editors Outlook telegrams and we wish to now make them public: President Richard Nixon The The White House Washington, D.C. In America IRS The granting, even though unconstitutionally, of unrestrained power to a government agency such as the Internal Revenue Service inevitably calls for the chickens to come home to roost. The incident which will precipitate overt action against you, personally, is for you to call into question the rulings of the IRS. That is tantamount to committing the unpardonable sin. All the power of government will be brought to bear against you to crush this individual act of independence. And, to insure that your neighbor does not harbor similar feelings of freedom, an example will be made of you and you will be harshly dealt with lest others try what you have tried. Anyone can have peace. The only question to be resolved is how much freedom one is willing to give up in order to have it. It is becoming apparent that as long as the average American will continue to give up his constitutional rights without protest, they will most surely be taken; However, the spirit of the Boston Tea Party is beginning to fire the imagination of citizens in our land. They are beginning to stand up against the Internal Revenue Service and its unconstitutional practices. This branch of government is becoming a law unto itself through the usurpation of powers it does not have under the Constitution. The IRS is the prosecutor, judge and jury in its actions against the individual citizen. According to them a man is guilty until proven innocent. Due process of law is a foreign term to the IRS as it bludgeons into submission those who would oppose it in any way. The time appears to have arrived, however, when Americans are no longer willing to give up anymore of their precious freedom. A case in point is that of Mr. John F. Grismore (story on page 1), one citizen who has decided to draw the line. He is a man who will not be intimidated and seems to know where he is going and what he is doing. This, to the consternation and dismay of the local branch of the IRS. Mr. Grismore could have relaxed and paid the tax purportedly owed the government. But Mr. Grismore feels he doesnt owe the money and is willing to fight for what he believes. Thats the stuff of which patriots are made. Chances are, if Mr. Grismore can get this into a duly constituted court of law (as opposed to the IRS courts) he will win his case against the government. Others have done it and are doing it in increasing numbers once they find out how to go about it. The Americans For Constitutional Taxation (ACT) is a group recently formed to help people fight for their constitutional rights. They will tell the people how to use the Supreme Law of the Land (nay, dear reader, not the rulings of the Supreme Court), the Constitution, to fight the illegal acts of a subsidiary of the Executive Branch of government, the Internal Revenue Service. It appears to us that the IRS has a bearcat by the tail in their case against John F. Grismore. And, if they get a lickin, who is there who will cry? ickit'k Government Makes It Easy For Those Opposed To Freedom U. S. and the Justice Department are supposed to be working to exclude revolutionaries and other subversives from federal employment, the Chairman of the Civil Service Commission has announced that membership in such organizations as fhe Socialist Workers Party; the Communist Party, USA; the Black Panthers; and, the Weatherman Faction of S.D.S. is no longer a bar to federal employment. Assistant U.S. Attorney General Robert C. Mardian said recently that even with the strictest standards in cases involving membership in such organizations, in the absence of other derogatory information it is now necessary to prove in court a knowing adherence to, or advancement of, the illegal purposes of the Communist organization. Apparently you have to Review catch them walking into the White House with a gun! While the U.S. Civil Service Commission of the NEWS Nixon Okays Truck Factory For Soviets With President Nixon reportedly having made the final decision, the Commerce Department issued export licenses for the shipment of $162 million worth of foundry equipment to the Soviet Union for use in the Russian Kama River truck factory. Department officials confirmed that these were the first export licenses to be cleared for the project, which will enable the Russians by 1975 to build more heavy duty trucks than any country in the world, including the United States. As is customary, the department did not identify the company issued the licenses, but Mack Trucks, Inc., of Allentown, Pa., has made a tentative agreement with the Soviets to supply technology, equipment and other contract assistance for the huge facility. The okaying of the license for the foundry equipment, say those knowledgeable in this area, could very well signal full approval of the Mack Truck deal with the Russians. The Soviets have decided to build their $1.4 billion truck plant site in the Tatar Republic, about 570 miles on a east of Moscow. The project is expected to involve at least $750 million worth of U.S. exports. American exports to the Soviet Union last year totaled about $120 million. Mack Trucks agreed to supply the Soviets with a huge amount of equipment last May 18, but the deal was Commerce on Department approval of the necessary contingent export licenses. The government agency postponed the decision several times, but last week it looked as if the Administration had flashed the green light to help provide the Soviets with the largest truck factory in the world. Officials in State and Commerce were reportedly sympathetic to the idea on the grounds this would stimulate the domestic machine tools industry and reassure the Russians that the relaxation of tensions with Red China would not come at Soviet expense. But the Pentagon supposedly objected, largely for the reason that the trucks had important military capabilities. Only a year ago, it is recalled, Defense Secretary Melvin Laird torpedoed an effort by Henry Ford II to build a truck complex for the Soviets. In a U.S. News & World Report interview, Laird stressed: Some people believe that the best way to suceed with the Soviet Union, for example, is to go to Russia and build trucks for them. Before giving away technology to construct trucks to the Soviet Union, and establishing plants for them, there should be some indication on the part of the Soviet Union theyre not going to continue sending the trucks to North Viet Nam. . . As a result of Lairds blast, the Ford deal fell through. But this time around the Pentagon has been overruled. Hence it looks as if Mack Trucks, Inc., will soon be furnishing Moscow with its much-wante- d truck factory.
