Teacher returns from workshop Mrs. Elizabeth Haynes, second grade teacher here, returned to her classroom after attending a week-lon- g workshop in Greeley, Colorado. The workshop was sponsored by the education laboratory on learning disabilities. The workshop paid expenses for educators to attend from eight states, Arizona, Wyoming, Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Idaho, Montana, and Utah. Teachers totaling 40 in number were invited to attend. There were just three from Utah, Mrs. Marie Ivory, Spanish Fork; Mrs. Haynes and Mrs. Christina Rendray, formerly from Eureka and now teaching in Pleasant Grove. The workshop centered on new ideas and changes coming in education. Leading educators from throughout the United States served as consultants and discussion leaders. Followup meetings are scheduled for next summer and Mrs. Haynes will continue her work to help children who are having learning difficulties. CHURCH NEWS DS Church David Garbett, Jr., conducted the Sunday evening services at the Eureka, LDS Ward Chapel. The opening prayer was. by Max Berry, and the music was under the direction of Susan Sanderson at the organ, and Audrey Sanderson conducting. The program was presented by the Ronald Gilson family. Speakers were Ronald Gilson, Jr., Charlene, Roger, Pauline, Ted and Ronald Gilson, Sr. The dosing prayer was by Michael Sanderson. dinner Thanksgiving Day Mrs. of Earlean Gear guests were her brothers and their wives, Mr .and Mrs. George Cromar of Magna and Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Cromar of Pleasant Grove. Womens .Society of Christian Service met last Friday in the Memorial Building, with Mrs. Alliene Farren as hostess for the evening. President Patricia Brady presided at the meeting. Frances Ewell gave the lesson on being thankful. She is also a student at he U. of U. Sam and Joan Quigley were home for Thanksgiving Day, visiting with Their parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Quigley. Sam is a student at the U. of U. and Jane is employed in the city. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Fennell of Las Vegas, Nevada, were in town over the weekend holiday. They visited with her mother, Mrs. Ruby Bigler and with the Martin Fennell family. They were guests of Mrs. Bigler during their stay in Eureka. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Andrew drove to Provo Thanksgiving Day, where they were dinner guests of a daughter and her family, Mr. and Mrs. Morris Bushman. i Mr. and Mrs. Terry Kay and boys, and Mr. and Mrs. Craig Lindsay and children of Salt Lake spent the Thanksgiving holidays here with their parents, Mr .and Mrs. Martin Fennell, Sr., and with Mr. and Mrs. Martin Fennell, Jr. Ladies of Elks met last Thursday evening in the Elks club rooms. President Barbara Hopes presided. Further plans were made for the Christmas party, which will be held on Dec. 12. A social evening' was enjoyed with Bridge furnishing the diversion. High score was won by Ina Clements, the cut, Faye Wall and the raffle, Barbara Hopes. Mrs. Hopes was hostess for the meeting and served a delicious lunch. There will be no meeting on Dec. 5. Modern Mrs. Club Mrs. Robert Fife entertained the members of the Modem Club at her home on Tuesday evening. Bridge provided the evenings entertainment. First prize went to Mrs. Frank McCabe, the cut, Mrs. Ray Badertscher, Mrs. Floyd Evans, consolation. Mrs. Fife served tasty refreshments to those mentioned and to Mrs. Curtis Butler, Mrs. Darrell Franks, Mrs. Jerald Drussel and Mrs. Joseph Mrs. Dinner guests on Thanksgiving Day at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Sandstrom were Mr. and Mrs. Bob Sandstrom and family of Orem; Mr .and Mrs. Bob Felden and daughter, Salt Lake; and Mr. and Mrs. Lee Bird and daughter, Ma-rcn- e. David Bernini, a student at the University of Utah spent the weekend here with his parents, Mr .and Mrs. Joseph Bernini. CARD OF THANKS I wish to thank all those who sent cards, letters, and for the beautiful flowers given me during my recent stay in the Payson Hospital. Their was deeply thoughtfulness appreciated by me. Mrs. Irene Bryson Mr. and Mrs. John Craw-fort- h of Clearfield were Thanksgiving Day dinner guests at the home of Mrs. Crawforths mother, Mrs. Mary Newman. Jerry Hansen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Hansen of Mammoth, spent the holidays here with his parents. He is a stu- dent at Utah State University in Logan. Mr. and Mrs. William Mrs. Wilma Webber spent Thanksgiving Day in Provo and Orem. Mrs. Ohlsen and her sister, Miss Frieda Ohlsen were Max Berry, a student at the State University, was home for the Thanksgiving holidays, visiting with his parents, Mr .and Mrs. Max Berry Sr. Utah Pax-ma- n were in Orem on Thursday where they were dinner guests Mrs. Rhoda Bell was hostess of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Kessler. The Paxmans daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Mark at a Thanksgiving Day dinner.
