Show Utah fair entry dates scheduled Well-know- C. Director, Hugh announced today Bringhurst, the entry deadlines for the Fine Arts, Photography, Home Arts, Horticulture, Agriculture and Floriculture Departments of the 1967 Utah State Fair, scheduled August 26 through September 4. Entries in the Fine Arts Department will be received in 'the Fine Arts Building at the Fairgrounds, Friday, August 18, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, August 19 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Both professional and amateur artists may enter exhibits in Fine Arts, Mosaics, Pottery, Jewelry, Weaving and Graphic Arts categories. A total of $1, 842 in prize money is being offered. The maximum size limit for all paintings and mosaic art is not to exceed 48 indies in its largest dimension, including the frame. The smallest framed size limit accepted will be eight inches by ten inches. ' The August 19 deadline and delivery periods also apply to photography exhibits and crafts displays. A total of $670 in prize money and trophies are being offered to outstanding photographers. Crafts displays will receive ribbons, prize money and trophies. Home Arts, accompanied by entry forms and fees, will be received in the Home Arts Building at the Fairgrounds on Pair . Hunters may apply by mail only for one of 125 antelope permits Under terms outlined in the 1967 big game hunting proclamation, hunters may apply Toy mail only, beginning July 17, for one of the 125 antelope permits authorized by the Board of Big Game Control. Permits were authorized on seven hunting units for bucks only. Buck antelope are animals with horns longer .than their ears. 'HI 4 Hunting units and permits available are as follows: Bonanza, 30 permits; Cedar City, 10 permits; .Daggett, 30 permits; Promontory, 5' permits; Snowville, 5 permits; Southwest Desert, 30 permits; West Desert, 15 permits. Season dates for all antelope hunts will be August 19, 2Q 21, and 26, 27, 28. Application deadline for antelope permits will be midnight, July 22. Successful applicants will be determined at . a public drawing to be held at 9 a.m., July 26 . . at the Fish and Game Division office in Salt Lake City. Only residents of Utah may make application and any resident who held a permit in 1965 or 1966 is not eligible this year. must include Applications your name, address, big game license number and choice of hunting unit No money will be accepted with the application this year. Successful applicants will be notified and must then send the proper fee. Any application not received by the deadline of July 22 or incorrectly filled out will be rejected -and any person who draws a permit but fails to send the fee in by August 8 will lose their permit and will not be eligible for two more years to apply for another antelope permit. Application dates for elk, buffalo moose, and bighorn sheep will be August 7 through 17, 1967. and 21 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Winners of County Fair Queen Contests and other authorized county celebrations wanting to vie for the Miss Utah State Fair title, have until August 18 to submit en- tries. A $200 university scholarship, trophy, and many other prizes will be awarded to the winner. Horticulture and agriculture displays must be in place by 2:00 p.m. August 26, opening day of the Fair. Department supervisors are Hugh Bringhurst, Jr. and Dennis Rich. Utah gardening enthusiasts may enter artistic display horticultural and o u td o o exhibits in four Fair Floriculture shows. Entries must be in place by 10:00 a.m. for judging the day of each show, August 26, 29, 31, and September 2.
