Show fHE EUREKA (UTAH) REPORTER Page Four Total of 763 geese banded A total of 763 Canada geese have been banded on Utah marshes by Department personnel during this annual pro . gram. This compares with 782 geese banded in 1964. Using air boats to reach the flightless adult and young birds, Department employees worked marshes at the Public Shooting Grounds, Ogden Bay, Howard Slough, Farming- ton Bay, Neponsit Reservoir, Bear River and Otter Creek. Through the return of bands from birds harvested during hunting season, much valuable information has been gained to aid in the management of these large birds. Department biologists will begin the duck banding program as soon as the adult birds begin their molt and the young birds are large enough to hold the metal leg band.
