Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Berry returned home last Saturday after a two weeks vacation trip spent in California. While there they spent a few days with a daughter and her family, Mr. ll and Mrs. Richard (Valene) at their home in Livermore. A few more days were spent with another daughter and x x ! family, the Dave Ottesens in in Garden City. Mrs. Ottesen is the former Shirley Berry. They also visited with Mr. and Mrs. Glen Hanney at their home in Modesto, before returning to Eureka. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Hopes of Sandy are the proud parents of a baby daughter, bom Wed. afternoon at the Cottonwood Maternity Hospital. The welcome little girl has an 11 year old sister, Marian Elaine, and a five year old brother, Roger, who are very pleased to welcome the new addition to the family circle. Mrs. Hopes is the former Merle Pett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Reed Pett, who are more than anxious to spread the good news. Mrs. Margaret Duncan is the childs great grandmother. Lee Wirthlin, who is attending the Brigham Young University in Provo, was in town on Sunday, visiting with his grandmother, Mrs. Wiliiam Wirthlin, Mayme Wirthlin and the Gerald Sandersons. Columbia Rebekahs Columbia Rebekah Lodge No. 2, met in regular session last Thursday evening in the Miners Union Hall, with Noble Grand Alice Peart, conducting. After the business of the meeting had been disposed of, 500 and Bingo were enjoyed. The 500" prize was won by Mrs. Alliene Farren and the Bingo by Mrs. Vola Nevers. Tasty refreshments were served by Ethel Brenton and Virginia Bradford, hostesses for the meeting. Ladles of Elks Ladies of Elks met Tuesday evening in the Elks dub rooms with President Leona Laird in charge. Plans were made for the annual breakfast. The tentative date is set for Feb. 22. Mrs. Laird thanked the members for their work for the Christmas party, and she welcomed a new member, Mrs. John Underwood, into the organization. After the business session, a social hour was enjoyed, with Bridge furnishing the diversion. The high score was won by Mrs. Lynn Brady, the cut by Mrs. Laird, and the raffle by Mrs. Dee Clement Mrs. George Finch was hostess for the meeting, and served tasty refreshments. Legion Auxiliary NOTICE The American Legion Auxiliary will hold a regular meeting next Monday, Jan. 13, in the Memorial Building at 8 p.m. There will be initiation of new members and President Margaret Hyde is requesting a good attendance. Agnes Anderson is chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, and she announced that a buffet supper is being arranged for the near future. They were dinner guests at the home of their son and family, the Bob Robinsons. |
