Several games of Bingo were enjoyed, with Clara Gar-bet-t, LaRue Fox and Elva Webb winning prizes. Your favorite hostess will be delighted with any of these : Rebekah Lodge Columbia Rebekah Lodge No. 2, held the annual Christmas banquet last Thursday evening in the Miners Union Hall. A turkey dinner, with all the trimmings was served at 7 p.m. The tables were decorated in the Christmas colors, and the members exchanged gifts. Following the dinner, a regbusiness meeting was Noble Grand Alice with held, Peart presiding. The main business of the meeting was the election of officers. Those elected were: Colleen McNulty, Noble Grand; Myrtle Whitlock, vice Grand; Anna Franks, financial secretary; Vola Nevers, recording secretary; and Virginia Bradford, treasurer. ular Christmas has many traditions The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, in hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there. . . Its not known how this tradition got its start, but there is a lovely legend about the customs beginning. It seems that in the town where the first Saint Nicholas lived, there was a merchant who had three daughters who were not married. In those days, the 4th century, a maiden had to have a dowry before she could marry. And the merchant was bankrupt. Enemies are the heritage of success. Nobody envies a CLUB r as B i Entre Nous The Entre Nous Literary Club met last Friday evening at the home of Mrs. Earlean Gear. The book review, My Life In Court, was given by Marion Nash. A short discussion followed. A short business session was held following the review. Tasty refreshments were served to members, Agnes Anderson, Laura McIntyre, Winona Thomas, LaVon Ryan, Marion Nash, Myrtle Theriault, Jackie Banghart, Ellen Muth, Maude McIntyre, and Virginia Randle. Legion Auxiliary The American Legion Auxiliary celebrated at the annual Christmas party on Monday evening of this week, with President Margaret Hyde, presiding at the business session, which wes held prior to the serving of the banquet. An entertaining program, consisting of two electric guitar selections, by Carl Fife; two vocal solos by Charlotte Ann Sanderson and a reading by Rachael Long. Following the program a delicious turkey dinner complete with all the trimmings, was served. The table decorations carried out the Christmas theme, and favors were small poinsettias. The decorations vrere by Mildred Davis and lone Ryan. A large Christmas tree added to the gayety of the setting. There was a gift exchange by the members. Bingo and Five Hundred provided the evening's diversion, with Leah Garbett winning the Bingo prize and Dorothy Allinson, the 500 prize, and the raffle by Agnes Clement. Bridge Club The Bridge Club met last Friday at the home of Mrs. Jerald Drussell. High score was won by Mrs. Henry Wall, the all-cby Mrs. Elmo Boswell, raffle by Mrs. Leland Sanderut son.
