Wirth Sanderson, Mike Drussell, Craig Colovich, Toleda Begay and Raymond Posie were graduated from the Primary into MIA. The program for the evening was by the seminary group at which time graduation services were held. The opening prayer was by Kirk Drussell; welcome address, David Redmond, and the program was The Priesthood. The general narrator was Arthur Long and it was divided into three divisions: the case of John the Babtist; narrator, Elizabeth Castleton; part of John the Baptist was taken by Sam McIntyre; Joseph Smith, David Chambers; Oliver Cow-derBarry Franks. Second ' division, Peter, James and John with Kent Bigler as narrator; Tibitha by Carol Webb; Peter, Nichi Castleton; James, Tom Taylor; John, David Redmond; Ellen Jensen by Gaye Phillips; Lorenzo Snow, Kirk Drussell. Penrod was sustained as the new Branch President. His couselors sustained were Lloyd T. Penrod and Keith Barney. Marion Davis was awarded the very prized Silver Beaver Award at the Annual Utah National Parks Council Banquet held at the East Provo Stake House last week. It is the highest award given to Scout leaders and is the first one to come to our Stake since President Lynn Crook received it in 1956. Mrs. Davis was presented with a lovely miniature necklace. There were 650 Scouting approximately leaders and partners at the Council Banquet. A n o t h er thing of importance for the Stake was when the winners of the recent MIA Quartet Festival were the only music numbers to be heard during the evening. The boys hail from Eureka Ward. They also took first place at the District Festival held In Nephi. The boys are: Mickey Wilde, Dennis Bates, Larry Ewell and Bruce Thomas. The boys sang "I'm just a Travelin Man and "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot. On Thursday, May 2, the annual Relief Society Visiting. Teachers Convention w as held at 2 p.m. Visiting teachers of the stake were special guests, which was under the direction of President Jennie W. Murdoch her counselors, Florence Lamb and Helen Smith, and Stake Visiting Teacher Leader, Pearl Forsey of Eureka, who has been in charge of special invitations and refreshments. Another important date to renjember is the stake MIA Dance Festival which is scheduled for Tuesday, May 14, at the Stake Center at 8 p.m. Dancers from most of the Stake MIA groups will be featured, and these same dance numbers will be the ones presented later at the annual June Conference MIA Dance Festi. . val. e At the annual held at the BYU Fieldhouse, the Elberta Scout team won First Prize in the Scouting division. They are Elberta Troop 117, and their Scoutmaster is Scout-O-Re- Lloyd Penrod. On May 15, a group of stake and ward Gcnealogocal officers will enjoy a guided tour of the Temple Archives in Salt Lake City, under the direction of Grant Johnson, Stake Genealogical chairman. There will be two or three from each ward as well as stake committee members who will participate. Members are asked to save old rags for the Aaronic Preisthood by assisting them in this project. Dir. and Mrs. Lloyd Randle spent the weekend in Salt Lake, where they were guests of their son and daughter-in-laMr. and Mrs. Tom Randle. They also met their daughter and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Derry (Diane) of Denver, who arrived in the city Saturday morning. Lee Bird returned to River-ertoWyoming, last Sunday, after spending a few days here with his family. Mrs. Bird and daughter, Marene, accompanied him on the return trip to Riverton. He had been on the sick list for several days, and his many friends will be happy to know he was much improved when he returned to Wyoming. An easy to grow perennial flower that will give you white daisies for a long time in midsummer is the shasta daisy. Seeds of a number of different varieties are for sale, the plants differing only in size of flower, doubleness of bloom and time of blossoming. Unusual preserves may be made from garden huckleberries and ground cherries, both relatives of the tomato. The fruit of garden huckleberries looks like its namesake and may be used in salads as well as for preserves.
