Show January 6, THE EUREKA (UTAH) REPORTER 1961 BPOE sponsors gay 'watch party1 Tintic Lodge No. 711 BPOE members and their ladies cele- brated at a gala watch part' at the clubrooms on New Year's eve, Dec. 31. A banquet was served at 7:30 and the exhalted ruler, Joseph A. Bernini, introduced the officers and chairman of the par' ty committe; Tom Eastwood introduced the past exalted rulers present. He also introduced the state president of Utah Elks, Alexander Blight Later in the evening dancing was enjoyed and at midnight hats, horns, confetti and noise makers were provided for the merry makers who ushered in the New Year in a big way. At the end of the dancing, a buffet lunch was served. The party was well attended and all those attending proclaimed it a most enjoyable evening. Miss Eileen Fennell birthday party hostess Miss Eileen Fennell enter- tained a group of classmates and friends at a birthday party celebration Monday evening at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Fennell. The young people enjoyed a variety of games, a scavenger hunt, and a delicious buffet lunch complete with a beautiful birthday cake fashioned by her mother and decorated by her grandmother, Mrs. Naomi Ekker. Eileens guests were Ronald Bird, Kay Cushing, Barry Colo-vicBruce Thomas, Ray Dean, Jerry Sanderson, Alan Sorensen, Pat Crawford, Rose Ann Ferris, Marjorie Randle, Carol h, Sanderson, Mickey Jones, Max Wilde, Gary Boswell, Amie Carlson, Dennis Drussell and Martin Fennell. Prizes were won by Ronald Bird, Pat Crawford and Carol Sanderson. Mrs. Terry Kay assisted her mother, Mrs. Fennell in serving the young people. Y!wa YIoUa Birthday calls for dinner party . . William Bridgeman, who has spent the past couple of months in South America, where he is in charge of a mine for a New York Mining Company, returned to Eureka to spend the holidays with his family. He expects to be here for about a month, when he will return to South America. His family will join him at the end of the school year. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Sorensen entertained at dinner on Christmas Eve for their daugh- Mr. and Mrs. Orlando (Ike) Hopkins and daughter Theresa Ann of Durango, Colo., visited for a few days last week with Mrs. Hopkins mother and sister, Mrs. Mary A. Stack and Mrs. Clare Larsen. Family together for N.Y. dinner Mrs. Terry Kay and Miss Chyrle Thomas of Salt Lake, spent the weekend holiday here with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Fennell and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Thomas. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Lee and four children of Ephraim spent ter, Paulette, on the occasion of her birthday anniversary. Guests included Mr. and Mrs, Pete Sorensen and son and daughter, Max and Penny, Mrs. Lena Sorensen, Mr. and Mrs. Kay Sorensen, Julie Ann Cartwright, Judy Ann Gourley and Judy Rae Greenhalgh. A late supper was served and the group spent a pleasant evening taking pictures and good visiting with old friends. Those attending were Mr. and Mrs. Verl Sudweeks, Dr. and Mrs. Norman Obom of Pay-so-n and Bishop and Mrs. Lee Mr. and Mrs. Gareld Brown are the proud parents of a baby son, born Tuesday, Jan. 3, in Emminence, Mo. Mrs. Brown is the former Patricia Lucas, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Lucas, who are more than willing to tell of the arrival of their second grandchild. Other happy grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Lee Brown of Grand Junction, Colo. Mrs. Margaret Lucas of Eureka is the childs Bird. Weekend visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Sorensen were Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Gilson and family of Kearns, and Mr. and Mrs. Elmont Lemmon and family of Grantsville. The Lemmons young daughter, Diana remained here for further visiting with her grand-parenand returned to Grantsville on Monday. Guests on New Years Day at the home of Mrs. William Wirthlin were a nephew and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Wirthlin of Murray. SPO Margaret (Peggy) Sheldon left Monday for her base at Fort Riley, Kansas after spending a 14 day leave here with her mother, Mrs. Joan Campbell and other relatives. Bishop and Mrs. Lee Bird and Marene spent Friday and Saturday in Salina visiting relatives. They returned home Saturday evening. Bishop and Mrs. Lee Bird and daughter, Marene, and Mrs. Don Julander and small son Jeffrey, drove to Mt Home Air Base in Boise and spent a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Norman Milne. They returned home on Thursday of last week. The dollars that usually just slip through your fingers . . . Relatives bring surprise dinner Mr. and Mrs. John Phipps were pleasantly surprised on New Years Day when members of their family dropped in to spend the day with them. Both Mr. and Mrs. Phipps have been on the sick list for several weeks and two of their sons and their wives and families brought an entire dinner, complete with all the trimmings, and ready to serve as soon as the group arrived. Those attending were Mr. and Mrs. Albert Phipps and Sharon of Orem, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Phipps and family, Candy, Ricky, Robin, Denny and Pamela of Linden, and Miss Annette Harper of Pleasant Grove, and Robert Young of American Fork. Relatives surprise Eureka folks Surprise visitors on Monday at the home of Mrs. William Wirthlin and daughter, Mayme, were Mr. and Mrs. Rex Wirthlin of Jerome, Idaho, and their Mr. daughter and and Mrs. Weldon Clark and daughter, Sandra of Star, Wyo. The group flew to Nephi and came to Eureka by car. Rex drives his own plane and is an enthusiastic pilot. It was Mrs. Wirthlins first chance to get acquainted with Sandra, her first great grandson-in-la- a w, child.
