Show FARM HOLDS MEETING tho the first meeting ot of the county farm bureau held in this city on saturday last was full of interest and much valuable information was given out while so some rue important propositions were considered and despos disposed ed of present were president john P holmgren ot of the county organization dr R J evans of the agricultural college extension department engineer john C whealon of at the utah ida ho sugar company county agenar Agen tR J stewart and representatives from practically every local farm bureau in the county one of the important matters decided was the standard breed selected for the dairy industry which Is now being launched and the bureau tavor favor cd making the jersey and Holst holstein eln creeds breeds the standard etwas it was reported by mr IV J glenn head ot of tile the boys and girls club work of the county that his contemplates importing purebred calves into the county as a nucleus for the dairy activities and in all likelihood those calves will be composed of jerseys and Hol holsteins stellis the stock feed situation called for earnest consideration and in tills this connection pres john P holmgren reported that in the future tile the utah idaho sugar company will turn back ii per ct cent of the beet pulp to the farmers in order tuai tat the stock feed condition may be better safeguarded safe sate guarded mr wheelon talked to tills this point also and urged the farmers to construct pulp silos and fill them with pulp while the pulp Is green letting it cure in their own silo silos a tor for it makes infinitely better feed in that condition more and better live stock on tile the farms was urged in order that the farmers may realize bigger profits from this side line a line which Is also to the perpetuation of tho the fertility of the farm purebred stuff was advised in all cases and now Is the time to secure a start for the coming season and it was pointed out that the farm bureau Is th the e medium through which to purchase these animals or seed grains and vegetables for the reason that a better grade can be secured for less money than thru any other medium the matter ot of properly selecting seed potatoes was riven given earnest con mr bir W V W knudson of this city talking to the subject prosper proper inspection of seed was urged as an imperative pera tive necessity and then all ail seed block should be thoroughly disinfect ed before planting seed grain la is going to be very biffi difficult cult to obtain and in planting wheat mr david holmgren urged the farmers to plant the turkey red gold cold coin and blue stem varieties and not experiment with other var ettles A motion carried that all local presidents select their local committeemen subject to approval of 0 the county committeeman mr W C parks was appointed com wit teeman on beet sugar I 1 industry |
