A deaaert luncheon waa aerved and an enjoyable afternoon waa apent playing bridge. Mrs. Viola Harmston and Mra. Ward Murphy won the prizes. Neighborhood sew Mrs. Woodrow Nielson hosted the Neighborhood Sewing club, at her home Wednesday evening. The evening waa apent doing hand work and visiting. A luncheon was served to twelve members. Newcomers club A very successful organizational mee- ting of the Roosevelt Area Newcomers Club was held Thursday, Jan. 18 at Shirley Smalls. A luncheon meeting was planned for Feb. 15. DUP group meets The Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, Theodore camp was held Thurday after noon at the home of Mrs. Zella Grant, were Myrtis Buckalcw and Helen Odekirk. A deasert luncheon was served to 15 members. The lesson was given by Orinda Gee on the Early Settlers. Mothers club The Duchesne Mothers Club was held Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Naomi Taylor with Leah Mitchell as A salad luncheon was served to 24 members and two guests. Mrs. Fran Curbo and Barbara Langford. This was the Club's birthday party and everyone enjoyed playing games. A chicken dinner was served. Mr. Henderson and Ray Houston were the honored guests. They received gifts after which table games were played. Mrs. Jay Larsen entertained the Neola Bridge dub, Wednesday evening at the home of Mrs. Jay Larsen, Jr. Guests were Mrs. Ruben Sixkiller, Mrs. Mark Larsen and Mrs. Cindy Larsen. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Todd returned home Thursday from Denver where they went to the slock show. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Oldroyd went to Richfield last week to attend the funeral services for Mrs. Rheila Rees. She was Mrs. Oldroyd's sister. They met their daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Mac Wright of St. George in Richfield. Bill I .a brum and Jonnie Snyder, Vernal, went to Logan and spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. David Labrum. Mrs. Market Caldwell, Salt Lake, spent the weekend in Roosevelt, visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Czar Rudy and other relatives. She attended the Utah Junior Miss Pageant where her Miss Kathy Butterfield was a contestant. She also went to the mission report of Ed Smith in Layton. Mr. Smith lived with Mrs. Edwards for about eight years and is now living with Dr. and Mrs. Edwards in Layton. Willard Elheredge, baby son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Etheredge made his first appearance in the Uintah County Hospital Jan. 22. He weighed 8 lbs 2 oz. Mr. and Mrs. Willard Etheredge of Roosevelt are the grandparents. Grant Brough of Myton is the grandfather. They went to the Salt Lake Airport to see their grandson Elder Leandrew Goodrich off by plane for the Mexican Mission. Spent two years at BYU, a member of Orchesis Modern Dance Club. Rick graduated from Phrangant Valley high school. Alamo, Nev., where he was sludentbody vice president, a seminary graduate. He served a foreign mission for the LDS Church in England. Spent one year at Cedar City at CSU and two years at BYU. lie has been a member of the Folk Dance team. A zoology major, he will graduate in the spring of 1974. Lorna and Rick are both members of the Ballroom dance team at the "Y" Silver Spurs 4-- H riding club meets The Silver Spurs Riding club of Duchesne went on a snow trip and cookout last Saturday. The members had lots of fun with sleighs, innertubes, and snowmobiles. After playing in the snow, all gathered around the fire for chili, hot chocolate, cookies and marshmallows. The next meeting will be held at the County court house in Duchesne February 8 at 7:30. There will be two films shown and refreshments after the meeting. Any interested children with horses, ages 9 through 19 are invited to attend. Myton Presbyterian Church news items With Robert George, Duchesne, speaker, regular worship services were held January 21 at 11 a.m. A congregational meeting followed the services. Thomas Gentry, Ioka, was selected to serve as of the church, replacing J. D. Walker, Roosevelt, who has held that position for seven years. Mr. Walker will continue serving on the Church board. Proposed repairs in the church will begin this spring, on a priority system set up by the board. Money in the building fund and money a Gladyes W. Dart memorial fund will be used for these. Services for Sunday, January 28, will be brought at 11 a.m. by a lay speaker from a Salt Lake City Presbyterian Church. Nursery care will be available. Following services, special music practice will be held for the children's singing group whirh will The ward was plagued by fires the past two weeks. The Sherman Young Sr. home had extensive damage to the basement and a bedroom with a lot of smoke when the wiring to the furnace caused a fire. They have been living with their son Sherman and Rosalee while the cleanup and repair is underway. The home of Lee and Norma Mecham could of went up in flames when the furnace exploded but due to quick action the result was mostly smoke damage and the third fire was the pumphouse at the Marsh apartments was burned down. Company the past weekend at the Max Nelson home were Eric and JoAnn Nelson and girls from NephL Penny and Bud Christensen and boys from Granger, Max Shaw and friend Clayton Gerrick from Granger who also visited Max's grandparents, the H. C. Shaw's. Leslie Brown was in Salt Lake with his mother, Mrs. Hazel Brown who had major surgery at the LDS Hospital. Hazel is reported as doing as well as can be expected. Saturday evening was a night of fun and frolic for the second ward mutual married when forty participants gathered at the Gerald Dye home to sleigh and snowmobile ride up and down the winding hill Enjoying the abundant snowfall. Following there was house games and eats consisting of chill hot chocolate, ice cream and cake. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Tomlinson headed the committee planning the party. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde McDonald were in Salt Lake the past week visiting with children and her mother. Kerry Mathews was taken to the hospital in Salt Lake for medical treatment following injuries received In wrestling. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Mathews Jr. Mr. and Mrs. Preston Mitchell Jr., moved out of second ward and Rex and Linda Tanner moved into their home. The second ward Building fund dinner Thursday evening was a huge success as reported by the Relief Society. Little Shelly and Troy Kynaston are staying with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Tomlinson while their parents, Charolette and Gilbert Kynaston visited in Salt Lake with his father, Alden Kynaston awaiting surgery in the hospital. Dr. Danniel Dennis was home for the weekend. He is chairman of higher education committee in conjuction with the legislature. His wife Joyce will visit in the city with him this week. Louis and Gail Loranger motored to Salt Lake to visit their father, Henry in the Veterans hospital Fay and Etta Mecham motored to Provo Saturday to attend the wedding reception of their nephew Rodney Dennis and bride.
