Show cans turned In to the American Problems Duchesne students aid in clean-u- p of town class. The total vtudentbody of Duchesne high school, under the direction of the American Problems class, made a vast clean up of Duchesne on Monday of this week. All afternoon classes were released and 275 students set out to pick up the litter near the highways in Duchesne and Its surrounding areas. After two hours of picking up litter dropped by careless citizens and visitors, there were over twenty truck loads of garbage taken to the city dump and an estimated 10.000 returnable bottles and The proceeds received from cashing in the bottles and cans will be split on a fifty fifty basis, llalf will be given to the swimming pool fund in Duchesne, and half will go to the Myton school for the handicapped. Anyone wishing to contribute returnable bottles and cans may drop them In the old truck on Highway 40 near the school. The American Problems Class feels that not only are we getting money for worthy projects, but getting rid of the Utter will make a better looking community. UTAH 84066 Union high school lias received approval from the Northwest Association during its annual meeting held in Rimio, Nev., recently. The rating is "Approval with comment". This is an Improvement over last year's "Advised" rating. After reviewing the Union high school report the committee noted .that Union is to be commended on the quality of their educational program, that tlie student-counselratio is well within the standard, the school plant ami equipment has Improvements over last year, that commendation is in order for the additional funds allocated for furniture, equipment, books, magazines and other media. Only one staff member lacks a degree and the required hous in education. Three teachers meet more than ICO students dally after the application of the discount formula and this is anotlier improvement over last year when five teachers were overloaded.
