Show IJTE INDIAN T1UUE UINTAH AND OURAY INDIAN RESERVATION, UTAH ANGLING PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, The Ute Indian Tribe Fish and Game Commlaalon of the Uintah and Ouray Indian Reservation, having made due and thorough Investigation and received recommendations from various conservation officials and other qualified persons find that certain rules and regulations are necessary for the conservation and wise use of fishing resources on the Uintah and Ouray Indian Reservation. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE UTE INDIAN TRIRE FISII AND GAME COMMISSION, tlint by virtue of authority granted by the Uintah and Ouray Tribal Business Committee under Ordinance dated October 9, 1950, approved by the Secretary of Interior, that It hereby declares and proclaims the following rules and regulations which shall be In full force and effect April 15, 1970, through Apill 14, 1971, unless otherwise specified, subject to change, however, by the TTte Indian Tribe Fish and Game Commission. NOW, THEREFORE, GENERAL REGULATIONS: The taking of fish shall be opened to angling on the trust lands or lands under the jurisdiction of the Ute Indian Tribe during the hours from 4:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M., Mountain Standard Time, as hereinafter specified. Private boating permits may be purchased from the Ute Indian Tribe Fish and Game Department, at Fort Duchesne, Utah 84028. Firearms shall be prohibited on he Reservation EXCEPT persons hunting within the hunting seasons with permits. Camping Is limited to two weeks In one place. Snowmobiles shall be restricted to reservoirs where angling Is permitted year round. Hunting and fishing on the Reservation by of the Ute Indian Tribe are regulated by the following 86th Congress H. R. 4386 July 12, 1960 Public Law as follows: 1165. Hunting, trapping or fishing on Indian land. "Whoever, without lawful authority or permission, willfully and knowingly goes upon any land that belongs to any Indian or Indian Tribe, band, or group and either are held by the United States in trust or are subject to a restriction against alienation Imposed by the United States, upon any lands of the United States that are reserved for Indian use, for the purpose of hunting, trapping, or fishing thereon, or for the removal of game, peltries, or fish therefrom, shall be fined not more than 3200.00 or imprisloned not more than ninety days, or both, and all game, fish and peltries in his possession shall be forfeited." He was a member at the LDS Church, a former resident of Vernal and Altonah where he was a farmer and was In sheep and cattle business, moving to Ogden In 1949 until the time of his death, Feb. 10, 1970. He was an employee of the Defense Depot and was a policeman at a school crosswalk. Survivors include his widow, Ogden; son, Oscar, Pocatello, Ma.; daughter, Mrs. Leslie (Nina) Boswell, Ogden; 4 grandchildren 2 brothers, Gilbert of Vernal and Austin, Salem. Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Beebe attended the services In Ogden and Interment In Altonah cemetery. All of the Ute Indian Tribe must have both the Ute Tribal Fishing Permit and the State of Utah Fishing License on his person In order to angle upon the trust of the Uintah and Ouray Indian Reservation, provided, that the daily bag and possession limit for children, twelve years of age and under, shall be four (4) fish regardless of weight, size or species, except for Lake Trout, the dally bag or possession limit of which Is two (2). Mr. Wise said the requirement that a person cannot have Income of $600 or more a year and be claimed as a de- pendent by another taxpayer does not apply to a child who la either under 19 at the end of the year or a full-tistudent for some part of five months of the year. Seedling trees can be had by landowners Utah Forestry and Fire Control announces that seedlings application forms are now available tor trees and shrubs to be planted this spring. Seedlings are grown In the Green Canyon Nursery and are for use by private landowners In a variety of planting projects such as for forestation, windbreaks, erosion control, Christmas trees, game cover, etc. Among the species available this year are Ash, Black and Honey Locust, Russian Olive, Golden Willow, Hybrid Poplar, Austrian, Scotch, Ponderosa, and Plnon Pines, Eastern Redcedar, and Blue Spruce. Lower growing shrubs that are Ideal for use In windbreaks, game cover and erosion control are Sand Cherry, European Sage, Squaw Bush, Multiflora Rose, Common Lilac, and Siberian Pea. A restriction Is placed on these seedlings in that they may not be used for ornamental or landscaping purposes and cannot be resold as living trees. Seedling applications may be obtained by writing: Area Forester, Box 220 Heber, Utah or from your County Agent. At this meeting each agency made their tor animal damage recommendations control In Dagget, Uintah, Duchesne and a portion of Summit county tor the coming year. The need tor control and control areas were set up and toll consideration was given to multiple use concepts. The Division of Wildlife Services is recognized as the service agency qualified and available to conduct animal damage control on public lands. They determine the control techniques to be used on the recommended control areas. Recommendations wer made for the management of coyotes, mountain Hon and bear.
