For the past few weeks, the students have been going to class on a twenty module a day system. Each module is 20 min. long and classes range from four modules (80 min.) to one module (20 min.). The students have Individual study time, when they may go back to a class of their choice for help or to work on a project or to do their assignments. Johnstun, son of Mrs. Florence Johnstun, Roosevelt, has been decorated with the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service while engaged In military operations against Viet Cong forces. Sergeant Johnstun was cited for his performance as a communications technician at Tan Son Khut AB, Vietnam. He was presented the medal during ceremonies at Moron AB, Spain, where he now serves with the 2185th Communications Squadron, a unit of the Air Force Communications Service which provides global communications and air traffic control for the USAF. A program was enjoyed and reThe rest of freshments were served. the evening was spent visiting, Mr. and Mrs. Dewey McConkle, SLC, spent a night at the Jr, Bett'shome, They had come here to attend a McConkle reunion to be held at Tridell. They are Mrs. Bett's parents. Mrs, McClowen from Ong, Neb, Is here visiting her sister, Mrs. Hariam and her niece and family, the G.W. Allens. Funeral services held for Mary F. Jarrell Funeral services were held Monday at 1 pm In the Lapolnt LDS Ward chapel for Mrs. Mary Foster Jarrell, 93, who died in a Vernal hospital Dec. 23 after a long Illness, She was born Aug. 17, 1876 In Orgas, W. Va.; to Noah and Bedora Esklns Foster. She married Martin E. Jarrell Feb. 0, 1895. He died Aug. 6, 1954. She was a member of the LDS Church. Survivors Include daughters, Mrs. James A. (Zora) Marshall, Fontana, Calif.; Mrs. W. J. (Ester) Jackson, Charleston, W. Va.; Mrs. H. A. (Ethel) Taylor, 13 grandchildren, 32 La-poi- nt; A phone call was received from Jess Butcher In SLC that his son Perry Is He Is now able to be up In Improving. a wheel chair, also his daughter Jessie Bumgartle had been In a car accident and one of her lungs had been punctured. She Is also In the hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Westen Timothy, Kays- - ' vllle, spent an evening and night at the Tellntha Rasmussen home. They came here to visit their relatives and old friends. They used to live In Ballard. Kent Brighton took his father, Sydney Brighton to SLC where he will spend a few days visiting his daughter, Beulah a nd husband and then go on to Spokane, Wash, to spend the holidays with his son Glen and family. Kendall Murphy Is In the hospital with pneumonia. He Is Earl Murphys son. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Daniels, Jr. are going to Phoenix, Arlz. to spend the Christmas holidays with Albert's bro. Max Cook arrived home Sunday from Phoenix, Arlz. where he has been attending a computer school and working. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Angus attended a Christmas party Sat. at their son Norman's home in Bountiful. The rest of their children that live on the Wasatch Front were there. Mr. and Mrs, Ronald Beardall received word from their daughter Shari Harrison in Ukanawa that their new grandson will be named Cory Christen. He Is the Beardall' s first grandchild. Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Jenkins and two daughters have been visiting Cliftons parents, the William Jenkins, Clifton is making a career of the service and for the last two years has been stationed He will report back to in Thailand. Calif., and his family will remain there while he goes to Vietnam for a few monThis will be his second term in ths. Vietnam. Bill Prltcher has gone to Salt Lake to spend Christmas with his son Dwight and faintly, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Squires have a family Christmas party and to also greet their new grandson. Mr. and Mrs. Delny Squires are the proud parents. Monday, Dec. 22, the annual Christmas party was held at the Ballard Cliurch. A good film was shown and treats were given. Elden Jenkins Is home on a two weeks furlough from Fort Lewis, Wash. Elden Is William Jenkins youngest son. The college students that are home for the holidays are Barta Jenkins, Lloyd and Carol Rasmussen, Vaughn Parrish, Kathleen Page, Clark Allred and Christine Brlsbin, Utah State University, Marie Lundberg, Welier College, Pauline Cook and Adrlanne Slilsler, RYU. Clay Elnerson has gone to SLC where he expects to find employment. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Hatch have gone to Las Vegas to spend Christmas. They went with their son Bill and wife. The students must go back to those classes during their individual time to get their assignments done. The students who do not use their free time wisely, are scheduled back into a class every module of the day. The students at West I lave adjusted to this schedule very well. Most of the students like It and say that they do not wish to go back to the dally routine of seven periods a day. A basketball game was held at West on the 22nd of Dec. The final score was; Roosevelt-5- 0. Boys, West-3- 8 Girls, West-4- 4 Roosevelt 14. West would like to honor those two students who made student of the month for the month of Dec.
